The Space

The Johnson family has owned this land in Kernersville since 1925, when Art Johnson’s grandfather bought it and ran it as a hundred acre sugar cane and tobacco farm supplying molasses to the local community. That century of working farm history is still present in the buildings and fields, and the farm marked its hundredth year in the family in March of 2025, which makes this one of the few venues where the wedding history and the family history are genuinely the same story.

Art and Wendi Johnson were married on the property themselves in 2007, and the farm began formally hosting events in 2011. Since then it has grown into the largest u-pick tulip farm in North Carolina, planting one hundred sixty eight thousand tulips across fifty five varieties in the field for 2026, plus another eight thousand in crates, alongside seventeen varieties of bouquet sunflowers and lavender offered for the first time in 2026.

Capacity & Layout

Starting in 2026, Dewberry Farm is offering only micro weddings and elopements rather than full scale weddings, a deliberate shift in what the venue books. Micro wedding packages start at four thousand dollars for up to fifty guests, while elopements range from six hundred dollars for up to ten people over two hours to twenty four hundred dollars for up to thirty two people over six hours, so the layout is built around smaller, more intimate gatherings by design.

The property still offers a real choice of settings within that smaller scale: a barn with church pews for a traditional ceremony feel, or an outdoor lawn ceremony, followed by a reception indoors, under the covered pavilion, or in the courtyard. A lower meadow with a bridge and a stone area for cocktail hour round out the twenty acre grounds, so even a micro wedding moves through several distinct spaces rather than staying in one room all day.

Amenities

Onsite lodging includes four guest rooms, among them a honeymoon suite with its own fireplace, a large jetted tub, and views over the front rolling pasture, plus three additional rooms for out of town guests. Packages include tables, linens, chairs, and setup, along with a sound system and dance floor already built into the rental, so a couple booking a micro wedding here is not sourcing those pieces separately.

Outside catering is welcome, restrooms and porta potties are available on site, and the covered pavilion and covered arbors give real weather backup without moving the event indoors entirely. All events must end by ten in the evening under the farm’s own noise curfew, which is worth building into a wedding day timeline from the start rather than discovering it the week of the event.

Location & Getting There

The farm sits on twenty acres in Kernersville, in the heart of the Triad between Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, which puts it within easy reach of three cities worth of out of town guests without belonging fully to any one of them. Parking is available on site, and the same grounds that draw tulip season crowds in spring, with roughly thirteen thousand visitors during the March to April bloom, are what a micro wedding party walks through on their own day.

Because the property spans working fields, a barn, a meadow with a bridge, and a farmhouse with its own prep kitchen and bridal dressing room, a wedding here moves between open outdoor ground and enclosed structures over the course of the day. A DJ setting up in the barn or under the covered pavilion is working with a roofed, partly enclosed space that holds sound better than the open lawn or meadow, which matters given the ten o’clock curfew and the need to run music efficiently within that window.
