The Space

Cody Creek is a restaurant and event venue complex built on 40 acres of rolling farm and pastureland in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, one mile south of Dobson, North Carolina. The property was developed over more than 40 years by owner Freddy and his family, with The Depot Restaurant opening in 2000. The buildings themselves are handcrafted from white pine and hardwoods on land that was formerly tobacco fields and cattle pastures. The restaurant’s name and aesthetic derive from the Sanford Depot, from which Freddy sourced many of the decorative architectural elements used throughout the complex.

The property includes a wedding chapel with stained glass windows, a Grand Banquet Hall with dance floor and sound system, a gazebo by a pond with dressing rooms, a clubhouse, and four log cabin rentals. Multiple spaces provide flexibility and options for different event configurations.

Capacity & Layout

The wedding chapel seats 100 guests and is fully decorated with stained glass windows reminiscent of the late 19th century. The Grand Banquet Hall accommodates 240 guests seated and includes a dance floor, full bar area, and outside fire pits with seating. The gazebo by the pond holds 200 guests standing and includes white chairs and dressing rooms for an outdoor ceremony. A day-time gazebo option must be completed by 3 p.m. for evening transitions.

The four log cabin rentals on the property each include a Jacuzzi tub and a bottle of wine, making them suitable for honeymoon nights or pre-wedding getaways. The clubhouse provides intimate space for smaller gatherings or rehearsal dinners. The progression from chapel to reception to cabins creates a complete event experience without leaving the property.

Amenities

All food is provided by Cody Creek (except wedding and birthday cakes, which may be brought in). A full bar is included; Cody Creek supplies all alcoholic beverages per ABC regulations. The property includes fire pits and outside seating areas for receptions under the stars. Tables, chairs, and dance-floor setup are included. Dressing rooms are available in the gazebo pavilion and in the bridal suite.

The Depot Restaurant operates on-site and serves ribs, steak, chicken, seafood, and salads Wednesday through Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday). A significant security deposit is required for all events. The venue allows guest decoration after 7 a.m. on wedding day, with everything cleaned up that evening.

Dobson is a small town in Surry County, in the Yadkin Valley wine region, close to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 40 acres of open farmland mean you feel genuinely removed from town despite the close proximity to the restaurant and shops. The setting is rural and authentic, with real farms and pastures surrounding the property. The venue sits at the foothills of the Blue Ridge, so mountain views frame the property in most directions, particularly striking at sunrise and sunset.

The Grand Banquet Hall’s enclosed structure with hardwood flooring, high ceilings, and built-in sound system creates ideal acoustics for a DJ. The dance floor sits at the room’s center, providing excellent sightlines in every direction. Outside fire pits can be covered with string lighting and supplemented with a separate sound system if dancing extends to the outdoor areas. The multiple spaces and comprehensive setup make the banquet hall responsive to a DJ’s needs.
