The Space
Clarks Landing traces back to July 1, 1879, when Roderick Clark, a local boat builder, bought the site on the Manasquan River for $1,141. What started as his boatyard grew into a riverfront recreation spot that drew families from across the state, and by the late 1800s a pavilion there carried a steam organ and an electric merry-go-round. By 1903 the crowds who came for outdoor music had pushed the property to add more pavilions and a dance platform, the start of what is now a full wedding venue.
Today the club is family-owned and operated by George Truesdale and his children as part of Beau Truesdale Wedding Venues, and it hosts only one wedding at a time, so a couple books the whole property rather than a shared room. The centerpiece is a glass-enclosed ceremony space overlooking the river, usable year-round rather than only in warm months. We have worked a wedding here and can say the water views hold up in person the way the photos suggest.
Capacity & Layout
The venue seats up to 280 guests, which puts it in range for a mid-to-large wedding without feeling like it is built only for enormous ones. Beyond the ceremony space, the second-floor Grand Ballroom holds a circular dance floor under Italian crystal chandeliers and coffered ceilings, a formal room that reads as the reception’s main event rather than a converted hallway. A five-hour celebration package covers cocktail hour and reception with a coordinator, maitre d’, and attendant included.
Guests move through several distinct rooms over the course of the evening rather than staying in one space all night. A Riverview Room handles cocktail hour separately from the ballroom, and a Game Room with a pool table, shuffleboard, and a stocked beverage center gives guests somewhere to drift during slower stretches. A rooftop deck with glass railings and a wedding dock add two more settings for portraits and quieter moments away from the reception floor.
Amenities
Catering is in-house under an executive chef, with no outside caterers permitted, and a premium open bar is included in the all-inclusive package, so a couple is not separately sourcing food and drink vendors. Getting-ready spaces include a Private Suite with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and its own restroom, plus a newer Beauty Salon with makeup vanities, full-length mirrors, natural light, and a private restroom, useful when a wedding party wants to get ready on site rather than at a hotel.
The planning calendar is structured: a food tasting scheduled months out, a final meeting with the maitre d’ six to eight weeks before the date, a preliminary floor plan due two weeks prior, and the final floor plan and payment due a week out. On the day, the maitre d’ runs vendors and timeline while a wedding attendant handles things like dress bustling, so a couple is not relying on family members to manage logistics.
Location & Getting There
Clarks Landing sits in Point Pleasant, five minutes from the ocean, which matters for couples weighing a beach portrait session or a guest list that includes people staying at the shore for the weekend. There is no on-site lodging, but the venue keeps a list of recommended nearby hotels, and on-site parking means guests are not hunting for a lot in a beach town during high season.
Decor is tightly controlled here: no fireworks, glitter, confetti, cold sparklers, or wax-drip candles, though the venue supplies silk floral centerpieces, card boxes, signage, table numbers, glass votives, cake stands, easels, and frames if a couple wants to keep decor simple. For sound, the second-floor ballroom is a defined, enclosed room with a hard circular dance floor and high coffered ceilings, so a DJ setup there carries cleanly across the floor without competing with an open-air or multi-zone layout.
