The Space

Tim Marsh built Circle M City by hand on his own farm in the Tramway area of Sanford after retiring from a career as an electrical engineer, and what started as one or two structures grew into an entire small Wild West town: a church, a grange hall, a mercantile, a bank, a saloon, a livery stable, a lumber mill, a buggy factory, a printing press, a blacksmith shop, a museum, a jail, a costume room, an opera house, and a kitchen.

Marsh, who considers himself a fourth-generation cowboy following his great-grandfather Julius O. Matthews, a man who sold 16,000 horses a week to the government during World War I, did not set out to start a business. As he hand-built more buildings, he realized the growing collection could host birthday parties and other events, and it has since expanded into a working wedding and event venue with horses on site.

Capacity & Layout

Circle M City seats up to 150 guests, with the hand-built church serving as ceremony space and the grange hall taking on the reception, which gives a couple a real change of scenery between the two parts of the day without leaving the property. Between the two buildings there is a boardwalk running through the rest of the town, so photos and guest wandering happen inside the same Old West set rather than a generic hallway.

The property offers indoor, covered outdoor, and uncovered outdoor options, which matters in a region where summer weddings need a rain plan and a covered structure to fall back on.
