The Space
Carolina Trace Country Club sits on a 315-acre lake in Sanford, North Carolina, established when Joyce and Bill Arnold conceived the project in 1959 and completed the first clubhouse in 1972. The original 25,000-square-foot clubhouse was designed by L.P. Cox. In 2006, Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the Lake Course, which opened in 1971, followed by the Creek Course in 1979. On January 31, 2008, an electrical fire destroyed the original clubhouse, but members rebuilt with a new 30,000-square-foot facility completed October 1, 2009. The rebuilt clubhouse sits within the gated residential community of Carolina Trace, overlooking the 315-acre lake and framed by the two championship golf courses.
