The Space
BonaManzee sits on 26 acres of green land in Madison, North Carolina, built around a pond, a garden, and a stretch of lush forest that give the property its genuinely serene setting. The venue was acquired by its current owners, Michael and Lynn Miller, and now also operates under the name WhiteOaks Terrace, though the character of the place, a log cabin event venue set into the woods, has stayed the same.
Michael is a USAF Master Sergeant veteran with over 25 years of expertise, who went on to found Missions Unlimited in 2019 and then launched Missions Illuminations in 2023, bringing commercial-grade holiday and event lighting to other venues and businesses. That background shows up on site: a covered outdoor bar, a deck built specifically to overlook the pond, and indoor spaces clearly built by people who have thought carefully about how a space actually gets used.
Capacity & Layout
The venue holds anywhere from a handful of guests up to 160, which covers everything from a small elopement to a mid-size wedding with a full reception. Couples can choose an indoor ceremony and reception, or take the ceremony outdoors onto the deck overlooking the pond, with the reception moving inside afterward, so the choice between indoor and outdoor is not locked in at booking, it can be split across the day.
A bridal suite and a separate groom’s den give each side of the wedding party its own space to get ready, away from vendors setting up the reception areas. Several of the indoor areas are fully climate controlled, which matters for a venue that books across a full peak season running from April and May through September, October, and November, since not every one of those months offers reliable outdoor weather.
Amenities
The covered outdoor bar is one of the venue’s clearer standout features, giving guests a shaded spot to gather that is not the reception tent or the indoor hall. Onsite catering is available, and the grounds are wheelchair accessible, which extends the venue’s usability to guests who could not manage a property built entirely around uneven, wooded terrain.
Beyond weddings, the venue is set up to handle corporate events, elopements, rehearsal dinners, and engagement parties, which suggests a layout flexible enough to scale down for a small gathering as easily as it scales up for a full wedding weekend. WiFi is available throughout, and some onsite accommodations exist as well, useful for a wedding party staying through the weekend rather than just for the day.
Location & Getting There
Madison, North Carolina sits minutes from Greensboro, which keeps the venue’s genuinely rural feel, pond, garden, and woods, within easy reach of a mid-size city’s worth of guests and vendors rather than requiring a long drive out into the countryside.
Because the ceremony can move between the outdoor deck and indoor spaces and the reception is generally held inside under a covered patio, a DJ setup usually centers on the indoor reception room where the climate control and enclosed walls hold sound in, while a separate, simpler setup covers the outdoor deck ceremony, since the two spaces sit close together but are not acoustically the same room.
