The Space

Richard and Margaret Chapman formally opened Bogue Sound Distillery in May 2018, and Richard brought a somewhat unusual resume to it: successful earlier careers in textiles, real estate, and construction before he decided to build a distillery instead. The result is a working production facility first and an event space second, where the entire process, from grinding the grain to bottling and labeling the finished spirit, happens on site rather than somewhere else.

A museum on the property displays how stills and spirits were made back in the late 1700s and early 1800s, so a couple touring the space walks past that history on the way to the tasting room.
