The Space
Blue Heron Pines opened in 1993 as an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Stephen Kay, built as the first upscale daily fee golf course in the Atlantic City area and the first course built in the New Jersey Pinelands. The design works with the Pinelands landscape rather than against it, with tree-lined fairways, water features, and strategic bunkering running through 6,810 yards from the back tees, playable across five separate tee options so the course accommodates a wide range of skill levels among any golfing guests.
The property has passed through several owners since opening, most recently becoming part of Ron Jaworski’s golf portfolio when the former NFL quarterback acquired it in June 2012. The ballroom sits above the course with a vaulted, beamed ceiling and full-length windows looking out over the fairways, plus a covered outdoor patio with a fire pit that extends the space beyond the walls.
Capacity & Layout
The ballroom seats 200 guests without a dance floor or 170 with one, giving a couple a real choice between maximizing headcount and building in room to dance. For smaller gatherings, the ballroom can be divided, with a section that holds up to 70 guests and a smaller room within that maxing out at 20, so the space scales down rather than forcing every event into the full room.
Two outdoor ceremony sites are available, the Wooded Area and the Pergola Patio, both looking out over the golf course and the surrounding Pinelands landscape, with the indoor ballroom available as a rain backup. That combination, a divisible ballroom plus two distinct outdoor ceremony settings, gives a couple more layout options than a single fixed room typically allows.
Amenities
Catering runs in house, with a chef-driven menu built around seasonal ingredients, and the bar program includes five hours of premium open bar as a standard inclusion, with a private bar option available for couples who want it. A bridal suite is available privately for several hours before the ceremony, and the venue’s own staff handles setup and teardown of tables, chairs, and linens, which takes that logistical work off a couple’s plate on the day itself.
The property has held Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status since 2000 and earned four stars from Golf Digest’s Places to Play, along with a #34 ranking on GolfWorld’s Readers Choice list in 2010, credentials that speak to both the grounds-keeping and the course design behind the venue. Seven Tap Tavern operates on site for casual dining and drinks outside the main event spaces, and the property is fully handicap accessible throughout.
Location & Getting There
Blue Heron Pines sits in Galloway Township, near Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, with complimentary on-site parking and Atlantic City International Airport about 15 minutes away for guests flying in. We have worked one wedding here, with events on this property typically wrapping by 11pm, a firm end time worth building into the day’s schedule from the start.
The ballroom’s raised ceiling with exposed beams and full-length windows gives the room an open, resonant quality suited to a sizable dance floor, while the covered patio and fire pit offer a lower-key outdoor extension for cocktail hour, so a DJ setup here works from the ballroom’s higher ceiling and hard surfaces outward toward the softer, open-air patio space.
