The Space

A timber-frame barn with a classic red exterior sits at the center of this 12-acre farm in Allen Township, recently renovated to bring in soaring ceilings, white drapery, and rich wood tones without losing the deep brown wooden walls and detailed woodwork that mark its age. The building dates back to the 1800s and has been updated to meet modern event needs while keeping that rustic character intact throughout the barn and its surrounding grounds and fields.

The farm itself is planted seasonally with corn that reaches up to 12 feet at its summertime peak, and a gently rolling stream runs alongside the barn as a natural backdrop. The Nappa family owns and operates the property, and that hands-on ownership shows in how the farm’s working character, corn fields included, stays visible right up against the renovated event spaces on site.

Capacity & Layout

The barn seats 150 guests for a reception, and the property is built around three distinct spaces that separate each part of the day. A streamside site handles the ceremony, set against the rolling water that runs past the barn, giving a couple a natural setting apart from the buildings for the vows themselves before the crowd moves on to cocktail hour and dinner.

A covered structure called the Wagon Shed, dating to the 1880s, handles cocktail hour and holds up to 115 guests, making it the go-to rain plan for a ceremony that cannot happen streamside as scheduled. For even larger groups, a 30 by 50 foot white tent is available to rent, extending the covered footprint beyond the shed when the guest list runs past what it can comfortably hold.

Amenities

Two private getting-ready suites are available on site, giving both sides of the wedding party separate space to prepare rather than sharing one room between them. The venue requires exclusive use of its in-house catering team, Roots Farm Table Catering, for every event, which keeps the food handled by people who already know the property and its kitchen setup well.

The property is fully ADA-compliant, with wheelchair-accessible restrooms and ceremony spaces throughout, and a complimentary private 0.5-acre parking lot is included for guests arriving by car. Bar service is available with limited or open bar options, and the venue’s reputation shows in its awards: WeddingWire recognition plus Best Reception Hall and Wedding Venue from the Morning Call Readers Choice in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Location & Getting There

Barn Swallow Farm sits in Allen Township, Northampton, Pennsylvania, within reach of Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton for guests coming from any of those nearby cities. The venue operates seasonally, from May 1 through October 31, so a wedding date here is naturally limited to the warmer half of the year rather than open year-round for booking a date.

We have worked a wedding at Barn Swallow Farm, and the split between the streamside ceremony site and the timber-frame barn is the thing to plan sound around: the barn’s soaring ceilings and wood interior carry a DJ setup well for the reception, while the streamside ceremony and the Wagon Shed cocktail hour each need their own separate, portable sound coverage since they sit apart from the main barn’s structure and power.
