The Space
The Westin Mount Laurel is a five-story hotel that opened in 2008, after delays pushed the original June 2007 date back twice. It sits on Fellowship Road near the NJ Turnpike and I-295, built adjacent to and connected with an older banquet hall that occupied the site before it. Westin designed the property as a contemporary suburban prototype for the brand, and that shows in the scale: 173 guest rooms and 10 junior suites wrapped around a working conference hotel.
The signature room for a ceremony is the atrium, with soaring 16-foot ceilings and Italian marble floors that photograph well without any extra styling. For the reception, couples move into the Grand Ballroom or the Regency Ballroom, both hung with chandeliers that read as formal without feeling stiff. We have worked this room before, and the atrium’s height changes how you plan sound: it needs coverage, not just volume.
Capacity & Layout
The Grand Ballroom is 5,500 square feet and holds up to 550 guests, while the smaller Regency Ballroom seats up to 450 and suits a more custom layout. Between them and the other function rooms, the hotel has 14,000 square feet of meeting space across 10 event spaces, and the meeting facilities scale from as few as 10 people to as many as 1,000, which matters if a couple is adding a rehearsal dinner or a day-after brunch.
Full catering is available in-house, and outside catering is also permitted, so the choice of caterer does not have to match the size of the room booked. Parking is free, with valet also offered for guests who want it, and the property is wheelchair accessible throughout and entirely non-smoking, which keeps the ballrooms clean for a reception that runs into the evening.
Amenities
On-site dining includes Bellagio Ristorante for Italian cuisine and Bar 555, which pours wine by the glass and craft cocktails, both useful if a welcome party or after-party stays inside the hotel. A Starbucks coffee bar, a lobby lounge, and 24-hour in-room dining round out the options for a wedding weekend where guests are moving between events without leaving the building.
Guests staying over get the Westin Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath in every room, along with an indoor heated pool and a 24-hour WestinWORKOUT fitness studio, both easy to use between the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day itself. The hotel is pet-friendly, so a couple traveling with a dog has one less thing to arrange.
Location & Getting There
The hotel is about 6 miles from downtown Philadelphia and less than 20 miles from Philadelphia International Airport, close enough that out-of-town guests can fly in and be at the hotel within the hour. Its position near the NJ Turnpike and I-295 also makes it a straightforward drive for guests coming from anywhere in South Jersey or the Philadelphia suburbs.
The property went through a renovation in 2017 and has since completed a more recent multi-million dollar full-property update, so the ballrooms and atrium are current rather than dated. For sound, the atrium’s height and hard marble floor call for a system aimed carefully rather than simply turned up, while the ballrooms, with lower ceilings and carpeted floors, hold a dance floor’s volume without the same bounce.
