The original tin ceilings are still overhead in the Indigo Ballroom, paired with modern light fixtures, and the Steeples Event Space upstairs keeps its detailed tile ceilings, so the building reads as a genuine 1920s commercial space updated for events rather than a new build dressed up to look old.

The Indigo Ballroom runs 6,000 square feet and functions as the main event space, while the Steeples Event Space one floor up offers 4,000 square feet with warmer lighting, a real option for a couple who wants the ceremony or cocktail hour to feel distinct from the reception. An underground speakeasy cocktail bar operates Thursday through Saturday evenings with live music, adding a fourth, very different room to the building’s overall character.

Capacity & Layout

Uptown Indigo seats up to 220 guests, which places it comfortably in the mid-size range, big enough for a full wedding with dinner and dancing but not so large that the Indigo Ballroom’s 6,000 square feet feels empty at a smaller gathering. Ceremonies can be held in either the Steeples Event Space or the Ballroom, giving a couple the option to keep the ceremony and reception in the same room or move guests between floors over the course of the day.

The Rooftop Terrace adds an 800-square-foot outdoor option with a 360-degree view of Shelby and the distant mountains, well suited to a cocktail hour or a smaller outdoor ceremony rather than a full seated reception given its size. Two on-site suites give the couple a place to relax and prepare separately before the day gets underway, so the building’s layout supports a full day of use, prep, ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing, across its various floors rather than one room doing everything.

Amenities

Both the Ballroom and the Steeples Event Space have their own full-service bars, and the underground speakeasy adds artisanal cocktails and live music Thursday through Saturday evenings, useful if a wedding weekend includes a rehearsal dinner or welcome party. Uptown Indigo includes chiavari chairs and round and rectangular tables in its rentals, which removes a line item from the budget that couples often have to source separately at other venues.

The building is fully accessible with an elevator connecting its floors, and its bathrooms are large and elegant, details that matter on a day when a lot of people in formalwear are moving through the space. A brand-new heating and cooling system serves the building, a real consideration in a restored 1927 structure where older climate control can be a weak point, and here it has been addressed rather than left as a compromise.
