The Space
The Triangle Sertoma Club was chartered on June 16, 1978, as a unit of the national Sertoma organization, and it operates today as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises funds for speech and hearing needs in the Durham community. Twenty years after chartering, the club purchased its current property, nine acres of land with a building on it, on May 15, 1998, and turned that purchase into the banquet hall it now rents out for events.
The clubhouse itself was built as the vision of charter member Billy Beam, who did not live to see how far it would go, passing away on August 7, 2004. After the 1998 purchase, club member Glenn Parker led an extensive stretch of renovation work before the space opened as a rental facility, so the hall a couple tours today reflects that member-driven effort rather than a professionally developed commercial build.
Capacity & Layout
Google reviews put the room’s comfortable capacity at 100 to 150 guests, which places it in range for a mid-sized wedding, intimate enough that a smaller guest list would not feel lost in an oversized room, but with headroom for a fuller celebration. The banquet hall sits on nine acres of land, giving a couple more grounds to work with for parking, photos, or an outdoor moment than the indoor capacity number alone suggests.
The hall includes a fully equipped kitchen, available for caterers or for a couple planning to self-cater, which is a meaningful detail for a venue at this scale: it removes the need to bring in portable cooking equipment and gives a hired caterer a real working kitchen to run dinner service from rather than a stripped-down warming station.
Amenities
As a nonprofit organization still active in its mission, the Triangle Sertoma Club supports speech and hearing programs in the Durham community, and renting the banquet hall for a wedding is, in a small way, also supporting that ongoing work rather than paying a purely commercial venue. The nine acres surrounding the building give the property some breathing room, useful for parking a wedding-sized guest list without the tight lot feel of a downtown venue.
Beyond the fully equipped kitchen, the specific material available does not list additional rental furniture, bar service, or AV equipment for the space, so those details are worth confirming directly with the club when booking. What is clear is that the hall itself is purpose-built for exactly this kind of rental, a banquet space maintained by club members for decades of gatherings beyond weddings alone.
Location & Getting There
The Triangle Sertoma Club is located in Hillsborough, on nine acres that have belonged to the club since 1998, giving the property a settled, established feel for a couple who wants a venue with real roots in its community rather than a newly opened space.
We have worked a wedding in this hall before, and with a seated capacity in the 100 to 150 range inside a single enclosed banquet room, a DJ setup benefits from the room’s contained size, sound stays close to the dance floor rather than dissipating the way it would across a larger hall built for hundreds, making it an easier room to fill with music evenly from one end to the other.
