The Space

A building that started life in the 1960s as a Howard Johnson’s, complete with the chain’s signature orange roof, is where Tim McLoone’s Supper Club now occupies the second floor, converted into a supper club by Tim McLoone in July 2008. The circular dining room sits above The Robinson Ale House and wraps guests in 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and the historic Asbury Park boardwalk, an unusual pairing of mid-century bones and a genuinely dramatic setting.

That original 1960s steel and concrete construction proved its worth in 2012, when Hurricane Sandy hit the boardwalk hard and every original window in the building stayed intact. Tim McLoone reopened the club just weeks later, reportedly picking up with the last two songs the band had been playing when the power first went out, a detail that says something about both the building’s durability and the venue’s connection to this stretch of the Jersey Shore.

Capacity & Layout

The room holds up to 160 guests, which sets a real ceiling on the guest list but keeps the space feeling intimate rather than cavernous, closer to the 1930s and 1940s New York jazz club atmosphere it was designed around than to a modern ballroom. A 24-foot stage anchors one side of the circular room, and a 24-foot horseshoe bar handles drink service, so the layout already has built-in focal points for a band, a DJ booth, or both.

A private wrap-around balcony gives cocktail hour its own separate footprint with ocean views, so guests are not standing in the same circular room that will later hold dinner and dancing. Ceremonies can be held right on the beach below, or indoors inside the main reception space if a couple wants to keep the whole day under one roof, which gives the layout real flexibility depending on the season and the weather.

Amenities

Catering is handled in-house with an upscale American menu, and desserts are made fresh daily by an in-house pastry chef, so custom cakes are available without bringing in an outside bakery. Dedicated get-ready suites give the bridal party a private space before the ceremony, wireless internet is available throughout, and the building is handicap accessible, covering several of the logistical questions couples usually have to chase down separately.

The venue has picked up six Best of Weddings recognitions from The Knot over the years, including 2026, 2023, and 2019 among others, which reflects a long track record rather than a single good season. Parking is available on site with valet service offered as well, and the built-in stage supports live bands or a DJ with lighting and sound equipment available to rent as needed.

Location & Getting There

The supper club sits directly on the Asbury Park boardwalk, next to the landmark Convention Hall and the historic Paramount Theater, which places a wedding here right in the middle of one of the Jersey Shore’s most recognizable stretches. It is roughly 55 minutes from Trenton, and the venue operates year-round, with May and the September-to-October window as its busiest stretch for events.

We have run the music for a wedding here before, and the circular shape of the room actually helps a DJ more than it hurts: with the stage and horseshoe bar as fixed anchor points and a room designed for a live jazz band in the first place, sound distributes evenly around the curve rather than getting trapped in a corner the way it can in a rectangular hall. The wrap-around balcony and beach ceremony option, being open air, simply call for a lighter, more directional setup than the enclosed circular room does.
