The Space
Construction on Tin Roof at the Preserve began in 2020, and much of the barn was built from wood cut from trees on the farm itself, with an on-property log mill doing the milling. The result is a 6,500-square-foot reception barn that sits on more than 300 acres of farmland and tall pines near Tabor City, North Carolina, close enough to the coast that North Myrtle Beach is about 20 minutes away.
The property sits right at the North and South Carolina state line, and the grounds are bordered by wetlands, the black waters of the Waccamaw River to the east and the banks of Seven Creeks to the north, so the outdoor ceremony sites can be set with water as a backdrop rather than open field alone. A carriage house was in progress to add groomsmen quarters, expanding the on-site preparation space beyond what the barn alone offers.
Capacity & Layout
The barn seats up to 250 guests, with the 6,500-square-foot reception space large enough to hold a full sit-down dinner and dance floor under one roof rather than splitting the crowd between rooms. A covered cocktail area sits apart from the reception barn, so cocktail hour has its own space and does not need to be broken down or reset before the reception moves in.
The rental package includes more than 225 solid white chairs and 25 round 72-inch tables, which covers seating for the barn’s full capacity without a couple needing to source rental furniture separately, and lighting and sound for the space are included in the site fee rather than billed as an add-on. Both indoor and outdoor ceremony locations are available, so the same booking can move the vows outside and the reception into the barn.
Amenities
A commercial kitchen with a commercial fridge and ice machine supports catering on site, and parking is included in the site fee rather than charged separately. The venue is handicap accessible, has a dressing room for the wedding party, and offers wireless internet, and on-site accommodations are available for a couple wanting to stay near the property rather than drive back out after the reception.
Because lighting and sound for the barn are already part of the site fee, the electrical and rigging groundwork a DJ needs is already built into the space rather than something to arrange from scratch, and the covered cocktail area gives a second, weather-protected zone to run music or a smaller speaker setup during cocktail hour before the crowd moves into the barn.
Location & Getting There
Tin Roof at the Preserve sits near Tabor City, North Carolina, right against the North and South Carolina line and about 20 minutes from the coast, on farmland bordered by the Waccamaw River’s wetlands to the east and Seven Creeks to the north. Guests coming from either state are driving into open farm country rather than a town center to reach the property.
We have worked a reception here, and the barn’s wood construction, milled from trees grown on the property, gives the reception space warmer, more absorbent walls than a metal-sided building would, which matters for a DJ setting up sound under a 6,500-square-foot roof, while the covered outdoor cocktail area and the water-backed ceremony sites give two more open-air settings to manage separately from the enclosed barn.
