The Space

The Simpson Farm is an 85-acre working horse and sheep farm, still owned and lived on by Robert and Beverly Simpson, which means a wedding here happens on an actual farm rather than a property styled to look like one. The barn is the centerpiece, decorated throughout with antique and vintage items that give the room a collected, lived-in character rather than the uniform look of a newly built event barn.

We have worked a wedding in that barn before, and the layout inside is built for the practical side of a wedding day: a bridal dressing stall, a separate groom dressing stall, and a dedicated photo stall sit alongside a caterer prep room, so the working parts of the day have their own space rather than competing with the reception itself for room.

Capacity & Layout

The barn seats up to 300 people, a number that puts it comfortably in range for a large wedding while still leaving room to spare for a mid-sized one without the space feeling empty. Concrete floors run throughout the barn, a practical detail that matters for anyone planning a dance floor or heavy equipment load-in, since concrete holds up to both far better than a raw dirt or grass surface would.

Beyond the barn, the farm’s outdoor features add options without adding complexity: a patio with a fireplace, an arena, and a pond give a couple choices for where to hold a ceremony or cocktail hour separate from the reception space itself. A bathroom is built into the barn as well, which keeps guests from having to leave the building during the reception.

Amenities

The barn already has a Bluetooth-capable sound system built in, which tells a couple something useful before a DJ ever sets foot on site: the space is set up to handle amplified music, not just acoustic background noise. That existing system does not replace a professional DJ setup, but it does mean the barn’s wiring and acoustics were considered from the start rather than added as an afterthought.

The antique and vintage decor throughout the barn means a couple gets a considerable amount of atmosphere built in, without needing to bring in decor to fill a blank industrial shell. Combined with the patio fireplace, the arena, and the pond, the farm offers enough built-in variety that a wedding day can move between distinct settings, dressing, ceremony, cocktails, reception, without repeating the same backdrop twice.

The Simpson Farm is available year-round, which gives couples flexibility that seasonal-only venues cannot offer, whether that means a cooler-weather barn wedding or a warmer one that spills out onto the patio and toward the pond. As a still-operating farm, the property carries the working character of its 85 acres, horse and sheep farm included, rather than the manicured feel of a venue built purely for events.

The barn’s concrete floors and antique-filled interior create a mostly hard-surfaced indoor room, which generally carries sound well and gives a DJ a reliable base for a dance floor without fighting soft, sound-absorbing surfaces throughout. Because the space also connects to an outdoor patio with a fireplace, a setup near that transition point can serve both an indoor reception and any overflow onto the patio without needing a second sound system.
