The Space

The Shore Club started out as Doolan’s Shore Club before new owners took over and reworked it into what it is today, and the property still carries that resort feel, a hotel built around its event spaces rather than the other way around. A million-dollar refurbishing program brought the restaurant and pool bar up to date recently, and the result is a complex with three distinct event spaces alongside 60 hotel rooms and suites.

We have played here twice, and the three spaces each read differently: the Atrium sits under a skylight with a hanging chandelier and works well for a ceremony or a cocktail hour, the Grand Ballroom is the largest reception room, and a landscaped garden area gives couples an outdoor ceremony option on the same property. That range means a couple can move a whole day, ceremony to reception, without leaving the grounds.

Capacity & Layout

The Grand Ballroom seats up to 250 guests, which puts it in range for a mid-to-large wedding without pushing into a room that would swallow a smaller guest list. Because the property offers three separate spaces, a couple with a smaller ceremony and a larger reception, or the reverse, has room to split the day across rooms rather than forcing every part of it into one space sized for the biggest moment.

The Atrium’s skylight and hanging chandelier make it a natural choice for a ceremony or cocktail hour that wants natural light without being fully outdoors, while the landscaped garden covers the fully outdoor option. With 60 hotel rooms and suites on site, a wedding weekend here also has built-in guest lodging, which simplifies the layout question of where everyone sleeps after the reception ballroom empties out.

Amenities

The property’s restaurant and pool bar were part of the recent million-dollar refurbishing, so a rehearsal dinner or a Sunday send-off brunch can happen on site in a genuinely updated space rather than a dated hotel restaurant. Sixty guest rooms and suites mean the wedding party and a good share of guests can stay where the event is happening, cutting down on late-night transportation logistics after the reception ends.

The Shore Club sits about one mile from Spring Lake Beach and the town’s restaurants and shops, close enough that guests can walk into town before or after the event, or spend the morning at the beach if the wedding weekend allows for it. That mile of distance also means the ceremony and reception stay quiet and self-contained, away from the beachfront crowds, while still being minutes from everything Spring Lake offers.

Between the Atrium’s glass skylight and the Grand Ballroom’s larger, more enclosed footprint, sound behaves differently across the property’s two main indoor spaces. The ballroom, sized for up to 250 seated guests, gives a DJ a full room to fill with a dance floor at its center, while the garden’s outdoor setting calls for equipment built to handle open air rather than a room’s natural containment.
