The Space

A mill building raised in 1899 anchors this venue, set inside the 500-acre Bethania National Historic Landmark district outside Winston-Salem. The property has changed hands and purposes more than once, moving from working millworks to a boutique shopping village before settling into its current role as an event space. A 2008 renovation and a second round of updates in 2020 brought it into shape for weddings while leaving the industrial structure recognizable underneath. We worked a wedding in this room ourselves, and the industrial character reads as real rather than staged for the camera.
Inside, the two-story building keeps its exposed wooden beams and columns in place, with chandeliers hung between them and large windows lining the walls that carry daylight across the room for most of the afternoon. The mix of Moravian architectural roots and millworks detailing gives the interior a worked-in texture rather than a built-for-Instagram one, and it holds up as a backdrop without much additional decorating. At night, once the daylight fades and the chandeliers become the main light source, the room settles into a warmer, more intimate feel than the daytime photos suggest.

Capacity & Layout

The indoor space holds up to 150 guests for both ceremony and reception, a number that works for a mid-size guest list wanting one indoor room rather than a tent and a separate hall. Because the same room can host both parts of the day, couples are not shuttling guests between buildings, and the DJ and catering team can set up once instead of twice. For a couple weighing this venue against a larger hall, 150 is the number to plan a seating chart and rental order around before booking anything further.
Outside, the grounds add landscaped lawn areas ringed by mature trees, giving couples the option to split ceremony and reception between the lawn and the mill interior if they want. Tables and chairs are supplied and can be arranged in any formation on the grounds, so a planner is not locked into a fixed floor plan and can shape the layout around a dance floor, a head table, or a separate lounge area. A couple who wants the dance floor near the windows rather than tucked toward the back of the room has the freedom to make that call ahead of the day.

Amenities

A dressing suite is built into the property, furnished with lounge seating and set up with multiple hair and makeup stations, enough for a wedding party to get ready together rather than in shifts. That matters on a day when the timeline is tight, since two or three people working at once keeps hair and makeup from becoming the bottleneck before photos.
Parking is available on site and the property is wheelchair accessible, which covers guests who cannot manage gravel paths or steps without extra planning. Between the included tables and chairs, the onsite parking, and the dressing suite already furnished with lounge seating, a couple is not coordinating as many outside rental deliveries on the morning of the wedding, which simplifies the vendor list on the day itself.
