The Space
The Mainland is an entertainment complex attached to the Holiday Inn Manahawkin on Route 72, built around a Kitchen and Pub restaurant, an indoor arcade, a go-kart track, and separate event ballrooms. It reads less like a traditional wedding venue and more like a destination built for a full weekend of activity around the ceremony and reception themselves, closer to a resort than a banquet hall.
The go-kart track runs more than 1,000 feet of technical course on high-torque electric motors, alongside a 50-foot climbing wall and the indoor arcade, all part of the same property as the event spaces. The arcade stays open year-round, while the go-karts run seasonally and are weather permitting, worth checking against a wedding date if guests are hoping to ride.
Capacity & Layout
The Mainland Ballroom covers 9,000 square feet and holds up to 500 guests, while the smaller Mainland Terrace Room comfortably fits 140, giving a couple two very different scales of room depending on the guest list. Multiple ceremony spaces are available on the property as well, so a ceremony and reception can both happen on site without a separate off-site location.
The outdoor Mainland Beer Garden adds another layer to the property, with three fire pits, a bocce ball court, a nine-hole putting green, a sandbox, and a half basketball court. For a couple planning cocktail hour or an after-party outside the main ballroom, that space gives guests something active to do between the formal parts of the day.
Amenities
Full-service catering is handled by the Mainland’s own catering staff, and a five-hour open bar is included in the wedding package, which covers most of a standard reception’s beverage service without a separate vendor to book. A complimentary suite is provided to the couple on the night of the wedding, so there is no need to arrange separate lodging for the wedding night itself.
Guests staying over can use the attached Holiday Inn’s guest rooms, indoor pool, and exercise facility, and free off-street parking covers the whole property. Between the hotel rooms, the pool, and the arcade and go-karts, the complex gives an out of town wedding party more to do than most standalone banquet halls, useful for a weekend where guests are arriving a day early or staying on after the reception ends.
Location & Getting There
The Mainland sits at Exit 63 off the Garden State Parkway in Manahawkin, New Jersey, about 7 minutes from the beaches of Long Beach Island, close enough for a couple to plan a beach morning around a wedding weekend. Peak season runs May through October, matching the Jersey Shore’s own warm weather months, and a couple booking outside that window should expect the go-kart track and some outdoor amenities to be less reliably open.
We have worked a wedding in the Mainland Ballroom and know its layout and power setup firsthand. As a large enclosed ballroom, the room gives a DJ a controlled indoor space with a consistent ceiling height, while the smaller Terrace Room and the outdoor Beer Garden each carry sound differently, calling for separate level checks if the day moves between all three, from a quiet ceremony to a livelier late-night set.
