The Space
The Loralei Inn sits on 100 acres of rolling hills in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the Bethel community of Haywood County just below Cold Mountain, with views of the mountain visible from the front porch. The current mansion was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original home at Twin Oaks Farm, reconstructed to fulfill owner Judy Jones’s longstanding dream of a columned house with a grand staircase, white columns and all, on the family’s hilltop property.
After Judy’s passing, her daughters Annie and Brittney continued running the property, carrying the family’s vision forward as both a vacation rental and a wedding venue. Inside, the mansion keeps that personal, lived-in character: a formal dining room with red walls, a living room, a family room, and antique decor throughout, rather than the neutral, blank-slate interiors common at newer built-for-weddings properties.
Capacity & Layout
The Loralei Inn hosts up to 120 guests across two distinct event spaces, and the property deliberately books only one event per day, meaning a couple gets the full attention of the property’s team rather than sharing staff, parking, or timeline with another wedding happening the same afternoon. For a mountain property working with a fixed mansion footprint, that single-event policy matters as much as any square footage figure.
Beyond the wedding day itself, the mansion sleeps up to 12 overnight guests across 5 bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom, so the wedding party or close family can stay on site rather than needing hotel rooms in Canton or Asheville. That overnight capacity turns the property into a weekend base rather than just a single-day venue, useful for a couple planning a rehearsal dinner or next-morning brunch on the same grounds.
Amenities
The grounds are built for both ceremony and portrait photography: a swimming pool, pathed walkways, a dramatic fountain, a wraparound porch, and manicured hedges give a couple several distinct backdrops without leaving the property. A full stable of horses sits down the hill from the main house, an amenity that can work its way into photos or simply adds to the working-farm character of the place.
Because the mansion sleeps up to 12 guests with 5 en-suite bedrooms, the bridal party has real space to get ready on site rather than arriving already dressed, and the wraparound porch offers a shaded, columned space for cocktail hour that sits between the formal interior and the open grounds. Antique decor throughout the house means the interior itself already carries a finished, styled look before any additional decor arrives.
Location & Getting There
The property is roughly 30 minutes from Asheville and about an hour from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, close enough to draw guests from both directions without either drive feeling unreasonable. Sitting below Cold Mountain in the Bethel community of Haywood County, the setting itself, rolling hills and mountain views from the front porch, is part of what a couple is booking, not just the buildings on it.
With events split between the columned mansion’s interior rooms and the wraparound porch and grounds outside, sound in the house behaves the way it would in any furnished home: walls and antique-filled rooms absorb and contain a DJ setup indoors, while a reception staged on the porch or near the fountain carries more openly across the property, so the choice between an indoor mansion reception and an outdoor grounds setup shapes how contained the music stays for the evening.
