The Space

This land was farmed by the Brewer family for more than a hundred years before the current owners bought 56 acres in New Salem, near Marshville, and built the venue only three months after deciding to start it. The open-air pavilion, 2,400 square feet, was built from wood milled from trees cleared on the property itself, so the structure is literally made from the land it stands on.

The venue is named for Gregory Moore, the previous owner’s ex-husband’s father, whose impact on the family inspired the decision to build a space around family and legacy rather than start from a blank piece of ground. That intent shows up in the details: the milled lumber, the family-owned and hands-on operation, and owners who are present at each event rather than handing bookings off to outside staff.

Capacity & Layout

The venue holds up to 220 to 250 guests, comfortably scaled between the open-air pavilion and a small pole barn that provides additional indoor space for ceremony or reception. The pavilion’s cover means the day is not weather-dependent the way a fully outdoor tent wedding would be, since the roof is built in rather than rented for the day.

Ceremonies can also be held at the 1.5-acre pond on the property, giving a couple a water backdrop separate from the pavilion itself, with golf cart valet service moving guests between the ceremony and reception sites so no one has to walk the property in wedding shoes.

Amenities

Two identical dressing suites, each with a smart TV, surround sound, seating, and its own restroom, give both sides of the wedding party equal space to get ready rather than one side getting the better room. Tables, chairs, an altar, and centerpieces are included as part of the all-inclusive service, which cuts down on a couple’s separate rental list and the number of vendors delivering to the property on the wedding day.

The property is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, and event packages run anywhere from 4 to 15 hours depending on what a couple books, which covers everything from a short elopement to a full wedding weekend. All clients are required to carry a wedding-day liability policy to book the venue, and beyond full weddings the property also books micro-weddings and weekday events for couples who do not need the full package.

Location & Getting There

The Legacy sits in the northeast corner of Union County, about 20 minutes from Interstate 485 and accessible from Highways 485 and 74, with nearby Airbnb listings covering lodging for guest lists over 100 since there is no accommodation directly on site. That puts the property roughly an hour outside Charlotte, close enough for a day trip but far enough to feel like a real farm setting once guests arrive.

We have worked a wedding at this venue, and the pavilion’s open-air design with a solid roof handles sound the way a covered outdoor space does: music carries out into the surrounding property rather than reflecting back off four walls, so a DJ gets a lively, open feel for dancing while the covered roof still keeps the system protected if weather turns during the reception.
