The Space
McCormick Farms has been worked by the same family for more than 220 years, now in its ninth generation, and The Carolina Barn is built into a portion of that land. John McCormick emigrated from Scotland in 1791 and settled the property; today Tom and Lou Brooks, their daughter Alex, and her husband Bruce Hammill carry it forward, having added the event venue to a farm that is still primarily agricultural rather than purpose-built from the ground up as an event space.
The venue offers more than 17,000 square feet of space under one roof, anchored by the Grand Pine Room with its 38-foot pine ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The 1820s home the family calls the Sand Hills still stands on the property overlooking Bull Run and Store Creeks, a reminder that the barn sits within a working farm with its own long history rather than a stand-alone facility built solely for weddings.
Capacity & Layout
The Grand Pine Room holds up to about 300 guests for ceremony or reception, while the smaller Magnolia Room, at 1,764 square feet, holds around 150 and works for a rehearsal dinner or a more intimate ceremony. Venue rental includes tables and chairs for up to 200 guests along with a one-hour ceremony rehearsal and an on-site manager, which takes several planning variables off a couple’s list before the day even arrives.
With both a large room and a smaller room available, a couple can size the space to the guest list rather than renting one fixed room regardless of headcount, and the on-site manager helps coordinate how the day moves between them. The Virginia Room serves as a 1,000 square foot bridal suite with marble vanities and floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and the Georgia Room, at 500 square feet, gives the groom and groomsmen their own separate lounge with a wet bar and smart TV.
Amenities
Tables and chairs for up to 200 guests come included with the rental, along with setup and breakdown, removing a rental-company coordination step from the planning process. The Virginia Room and Georgia Room give both sides of the wedding party dedicated, private space to get ready rather than sharing a single room or using a hotel off-site, and the venue provides an on-site manager throughout the rental period.
Venue hours run from 10am to 10pm, with all events required to end by 10pm under local regulations, worth building into your reception timeline from the start rather than discovering the cutoff late in planning. The one-hour ceremony rehearsal included in the rental fee gives the wedding party a chance to walk through the day on-site beforehand, useful given the property’s size and the number of rooms in play.
Location & Getting There
The Carolina Barn is about 20 minutes north of Fayetteville and 10 minutes from Spring Lake, with Raleigh-Durham International Airport the nearest international airport, roughly 65 miles away. We have worked an event on this property, and the drive out from Fayetteville is straightforward enough that it should not add real friction for guests, while still delivering the farm setting the venue is built around.
Plan guest travel time from Raleigh-Durham if you are flying people in from out of town, since the airport sits over an hour away. Inside the Grand Pine Room, the 38-foot pine ceilings give sound significant room to open up without a low-room bounce, and with over 17,000 square feet of climate-controlled space under one roof, a DJ can move easily between the Grand Pine Room and the Magnolia Room without setup depending on outdoor weather at all.
