The Space
The Auto Pour opened in Madison Park in the summer of 2020, built by John and Jenny Lucas after years of visiting wineries in Virginia and a self-pour bar in Richmond that convinced them to bring the concept to Charlotte. It occupies 2,906 square feet inside the Madison Corners shopping center, with an industrial-feeling indoor lounge built around community tables rather than a traditional bar-and-stool layout. John and Jenny came to the concept as empty nesters, and that personal, unhurried origin shows in how the space is laid out for lingering rather than for a quick stop.
Sixty-four wines are on tap, dispensed through Napa Technology WineStation machines, alongside eighteen beers, ciders and seltzers on the PourMyBeer system, making it the largest self-pour wine selection in North Carolina. Guests pour their own by the ounce, which turns the bar itself into an activity rather than a service point, something worth knowing if you are picturing how a cocktail hour here would actually move.
Capacity & Layout
Seated capacity runs to 90, split between the indoor lounge and a fenced outdoor patio with umbrella-topped tables, so a private buyout has to work with two connected but distinct footprints rather than one open room. The self-pour walls anchor the indoor space, which shapes where a dance floor or a DJ table can realistically sit without blocking guest access to the machines.
The venue is available for private events and full buyouts, which is the version that suits a wedding-adjacent gathering, since regular hours run Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 10pm with Monday and Sunday reserved for private bookings. That closed-door scheduling on the slowest days gives a couple more room to plan a rehearsal dinner or welcome party without competing with walk-in customers.
Amenities
The patio is fenced, well-lit, and set up to welcome both pets and children, with a dedicated kid area and kid-friendly snacks on hand, useful if the guest list includes young families who would otherwise need a sitter. Guests are also allowed to bring in outside carry-out food, which opens the door to a catered spread without the venue needing its own kitchen.
Parking is free in the venue’s own lot, and the entrance, lot and restroom are all wheelchair accessible. Live music is featured on certain days, so the space already has some experience hosting sound and a crowd at once, which is useful groundwork for a couple planning music through their own event. A full private buyout means none of these amenities have to be shared with walk-in customers for the length of the event.
Location & Getting There
The Auto Pour sits in the Madison Park neighborhood, inside the Madison Corners shopping center, a straightforward stop for guests navigating South Boulevard rather than a venue tucked down a side street. Free lot parking removes the usual worry about finding street spots that comes with a shopping-center location.
Its position inside a retail center means guests are arriving to a known, well-lit lot rather than searching for a hidden entrance, which keeps a small wedding-adjacent event simple to find for anyone visiting from out of town. We have worked this room, and because it started as a self-pour concept rather than a built-for-weddings space, a DJ setup benefits from checking sightlines around the community tables early, since the room was designed around browsing the taps rather than a fixed dance floor.
