The Space
The land here was called Many Oaks after the Civil War, farmed by the Gamble family through the 1930s and 40s for tobacco and milk before they built the Barn in 1946. David Couch bought the core of the property in 1998 and assembled the rest through roughly 15 separate land purchases, restoring the buildings between 2000 and 2016 and opening the farm to public events in 2012.
The Pole Barn is where we set up for a wedding on this property, an open-air structure nestled among oak trees and looking out over a pond, a very different room from the fully enclosed Barn on the same property. The farm is still working: it raises 100 percent grass-fed, grass-finished beef cattle, mostly black Angus with some red Devon mixed in, and grows certified organic produce. That working-farm identity carries into the event side too, since the same land producing the farm’s beef and produce is what a couple is walking and photographing on their wedding day.
Capacity & Layout
The Pole Barn holds up to 200 guests with panoramic views across the property, while the enclosed Barn seats 300 and can reach 1,500 total when paired with a reception tent. A couple choosing the Pole Barn is choosing scale as much as style: it is built for a mid-sized guest list that wants oak trees and open pond views rather than the Barn’s rooftop terrace and larger indoor footprint.
Ceremony sites on the property include The Grove among others, giving a couple an outdoor option distinct from the Pole Barn reception itself, so the day can move from one setting to another rather than using a single space for both. Standing capacity across the property tops out around 450, a number that matters mainly for couples weighing a cocktail-style reception against a fully seated one.
Amenities
Four luxury renovated farmhouses and cottages provide on-site lodging, one of which serves as the bridal suite, described with natural light and built-in primping stations for getting ready without leaving the property. A market on site, converted from a tractor shed in 2014, sells the farm’s own grass-fed beef and organic produce, tying the venue directly to the working land around it.
Catering requires choosing from the venue’s approved list rather than bringing in any outside vendor, and bar service needs a licensed server, with a silo bar available at the rooftop terrace for events using the main Barn. Wi-Fi and A/V equipment are both available on site, and the property is set up for pet-friendly and kid-friendly events, along with eco-conscious, green event options. Those services matter for a couple weighing how much of the day’s logistics the venue itself can absorb versus what falls to an outside vendor.
Location & Getting There
The farm sits about 20 minutes north of downtown Greensboro, with Piedmont Triad International Airport roughly 8 miles away, an easy distance for out-of-town guests flying in. Ample parking is available on site, with valet parking offered as an option, and the property enforces an 11pm noise curfew, worth building into the reception timeline from the start.
The Pole Barn’s open-air structure among the oaks means a DJ is working outdoors with no walls to contain or shape sound, closer to setting up for an open-air party than an indoor reception, while the enclosed Barn, with music kept indoors only per venue policy, gives a DJ a defined room where the timber walls and barn-wood ceiling help hold sound over the dance floor.
