The Space

Stardust Cellars started as a farm in 2016 and grew into a working meadery and winery, with its taproom opening in October 2019 inside the old Round Up building in North Wilkesboro. The property runs on biodynamic principles: the vineyard grows muscadine grapes, described as the oldest grapes on the planet, pollinated by the venue’s own honey bees rather than by outside hives brought in for the season.

Inside, the taproom is built from reclaimed wood and named the Cellar, a rustic finish that carries through the whole property rather than stopping at the front door. Outside, the grounds add an outdoor deck, a beer garden, vineyard rows, and a nine-hole disc golf course, giving a wedding here far more usable outdoor space than a typical winery tasting room offers its guests, and it means a couple can move their reception through several different backdrops over the course of one evening.

Capacity & Layout

With no fixed reception hall, this venue works best for a couple planning an event across several outdoor zones rather than one enclosed banquet room: the vineyard grounds, the beer garden, and the deck can each hold a different part of the day, cocktail hour on the deck, dinner in the beer garden, dancing near the taproom, rather than forcing everything into one single space.

The disc golf course adds a genuine activity option for guests during a longer reception window, something few venues in this category offer, and camping is available on site, which matters for a wedding weekend where out-of-town guests want to stay close rather than book a hotel and drive back in for a second day of festivities.

Amenities

Stardust Cellars holds a triple dogwood sustainability rating from NC GreenTravel for its zero-waste practices and organic vineyard methods, and the bar pours wines, meads, ciders, and craft NC and international beers, with the meadery specializing in ancestral mead made by hand-stirring raw local honey with natural water, a specific production style worth mentioning to guests who care about where their drink is coming from.

We have worked an event at Stardust Cellars before, so the layout of the taproom relative to the deck and beer garden is already familiar to us. The venue is pet friendly, allows children, runs group tours, and offers RV parking and on-site camping, all details that point toward a relaxed, come-as-you-are property rather than a formal, buttoned-up one.

Location & Getting There

The venue sits in North Wilkesboro inside the former Round Up building, and normal hours run Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm with the taproom closed Monday through Friday, so any private wedding booking outside those hours is arranged separately from the regular tasting-room schedule. The property also hosts the annual NC Mead Fest and other festivals on its outdoor grounds, evidence it is built to handle a crowd.

Because most of the usable space here is outdoors, deck, beer garden, and vineyard rows, rather than a single enclosed hall, a DJ setting up for a reception is planning for open-air sound across several zones instead of one contained room, which means speaker placement and coverage matter more here than they would inside a traditional banquet hall.
