The Space

Song Hill Reserve is a 68-acre privately owned property set on a ridge overlooking Lake Lanier in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near where the North Carolina and South Carolina lines meet, close to Landrum. The property is family owned and operated by John and Larsen Dunn along with Barclay Newlin, and it sits a few minutes from downtown Landrum, South Carolina, and historic Tryon, North Carolina, giving it a mountain setting without being remote.

The ceremony site takes in the same view that defines the rest of the property, looking out over Lake Lanier and the mountains of North Carolina from the ridge. A pavilion on site serves as the main reception space, built with enough open floor to handle dancing alongside dinner seating, and we’ve worked a wedding in this room, so we know how the ceremony view and the reception pavilion connect across the grounds.

Capacity & Layout

Song Hill Reserve holds up to 150 guests overall, with the reception site itself accommodating 100 or more comfortably under string lights strung across the pavilion, giving a couple a realistic sense of how full the room will feel at a mid-sized wedding versus a smaller one. Total meeting space across the property runs about 2,250 square feet, which sets a practical ceiling on how large a floor plan, tables, dance floor, and staging together, can actually fit.

Because the ceremony site sits apart from the reception pavilion, both looking out over the same ridge view, the day involves a short walk between vows and reception rather than one continuous room doing both jobs. Five guest rooms are available on site, useful for a couple or their wedding party who want to stay over rather than driving back to Landrum or Tryon after the event ends.

Amenities

The property includes a bridal suite as well as a separate bridal cabin, giving the wedding party a dedicated space to get ready away from the reception pavilion, and patio heaters are available to extend outdoor time into cooler evenings, useful for a mountain property where temperatures can drop after sunset even in warmer months. Lot parking is provided on site rather than requiring guests to find street parking nearby.

Song Hill Reserve allows outside catering and runs a bring-your-own alcohol policy, both of which give a couple more control over the food and bar budget than a venue with an exclusive in-house vendor would. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and with five guest rooms and a bridal cabin already on the property, it can function as a self-contained wedding weekend rather than requiring guests to book lodging somewhere else in town.

Location & Getting There

The property sits in northern Greenville County, close enough to downtown Landrum and historic Tryon that guests staying in either town have a short drive to the venue, while the property itself feels set apart on its own ridge above Lake Lanier. That combination, an easy drive from two small towns paired with a mountain-ridge setting, is a big part of what the 68 acres offer that a downtown venue cannot.

With the ceremony held outdoors on the ridge overlooking the lake and the reception moving into the pavilion for dinner and dancing, the day shifts from open mountain air to a covered structure built specifically for that second half of the evening, and that pavilion, with its own roofline and open sides, is where a DJ setup is built to work, keeping sound centered on the dance floor rather than carrying it out over the open ridge.
