The Space
Something Blue Mountain Venue sits on 50 private gated acres on a ridgetop in Marion, North Carolina, roughly 8 minutes from Interstate 40 exit 81. The property operates from what is called McLaren Farm, reflecting its agricultural heritage. Over 100 named mountain peaks are visible from various points on the property, including Clingman’s Peak, Mt. Gibbes, Mt. Mitchell, Shortoff, Table Rock Mountain, The Chimneys, and Hawksbill Mountain. Owners Lisa and David operate the venue as a hands-on team, handling tours, vendor coordination, and day-of coordination for each event personally. The new reception building, opening September 2026, will seat 60 guests with a dining room, chandeliers, cathedral ceiling, built-in speaker system, indoor bar, and dance area.
Indoor dressing spaces feature a stone fireplace, Victorian-style furniture, wet bar, 6-foot by 4-foot floor mirrors, and high ceilings. The entire property was designed with accessibility in mind, with concrete walkways throughout and no steps or stairs to climb.
Capacity & Layout
The venue currently accommodates 34 guests formally seated indoors, with capacity expanding to 60 when the new reception building opens in September 2026. Standing capacity is up to 100 guests. Ceremony sites include an outdoor rock platform with mountain views and covered concrete patios with stone columns. A pergola with a wooden arbor and an enclosed gazebo/solarium available year-round provide additional ceremony and gathering options. A 50-by-50 level grassed courtyard serves outdoor cocktails, lawn games, and ceremonies with weather backup.
The variety of ceremony spaces means you can choose a rock platform for dramatic views, the pergola for a garden feel, or the gazebo for year-round weather protection. Reception can happen in the main building or spread across the outdoor grounds depending on your guest count and preferred setup.
Amenities
All-inclusive packages include fresh florals, officiant services, custom wedding cake, appetizers or full meals, venue decoration, catering service stations, and bar service. The new reception building features a built-in speaker system and dance area. Indoor and outdoor restroom facilities are available throughout the property. Ample paved parking and guest transportation assistance are provided. The venue provides dressing rooms for the bridal party and groom’s party, both featuring stone fireplaces, mirrors, and luxury finishes.
The property includes ample outdoor seating with wrought-iron chairs, tables, and umbrellas. Accessibility features throughout include concrete walkways, level grassed areas, paved parking, and accessible restroom facilities.
Location & Getting There
The venue is located in Marion, North Carolina, approximately 8 minutes from Interstate 40 exit 81, making it accessible yet situated in the Blue Ridge Mountain region. The ridgetop setting provides 360-degree mountain views and a sense of elevation and privacy. Asheville is approximately 45 minutes away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is accessible for guest exploration.
The new reception building’s cathedral ceiling and built-in speaker system are designed to carry sound effectively throughout the 60-guest dining space. The open grassed courtyard and surrounding mountain terrain create a natural amphitheater effect, allowing DJ equipment to project sound clearly to ceremony and outdoor celebration areas. The enclosed gazebo provides weather protection while maintaining good acoustics, and the varied outdoor elevations and tree cover help contain sound without creating harsh reflections.
