The Space
A newer post-and-beam barn anchors this 55-acre former farm outside Thomasville, standing 60 feet by 48 feet with a loft that pushes the indoor footprint past 2,500 square feet. Two covered porches flank the building, adding another 1,100 square feet that stays dry and shaded without counting as indoor space, so the barn reads larger than its footprint suggests once a couple starts blocking out a floor plan for dinner and dancing.
Jan and Kenny Cain ran this land as a working farm, growing pumpkins and selling fresh-cut Christmas trees, before converting it into a wedding venue, and that agricultural history shows in the property rather than being dressed up around it. Seven-plus acres of open meadow, a 1.2-acre pond, and a wooded picnic area with fire pits give couples several genuinely different backdrops within a short walk of each other, rather than one field wearing several names.
Capacity & Layout
Secret Meadows seats 25 to 160 guests and holds up to 200 standing, a range wide enough to cover an intimate ceremony at the pond and a fuller reception in the barn on the same afternoon. Tables, chairs, and white linens are included with the rental, which removes one of the larger line items from a couple’s budget and simplifies the walk-through with a caterer to a question of layout rather than sourcing.
With the ceremony able to move between the pond, the picnic area, or the seven-plus acres of meadow, and the reception fixed inside the barn or under its covered porches, couples are really choosing between several small sites rather than filling one large room. That flexibility matters for a band or DJ too, since sound and setup travel from an outdoor ceremony to an indoor reception rather than staying in one fixed footprint all day.
Amenities
The bridal party gets its own house, KenLeigh, with a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and a restroom, available for day use or, for an additional fee, overnight, while the groom’s quarters sit separately inside the barn itself. That separation means two wedding parties can get ready at the same time without crossing paths, and a couple staying overnight in KenLeigh can wake up on the property instead of driving in the morning of.
Outside, two fire pits with bench seating, two charcoal grills, and a playground sit in a wooded picnic area, amenities that read more like a family farm than a rented hall and that give guests somewhere to land before or after the formal parts of the day. Parking is free and designated, with a handicapped-accessible area, and outside vendors are not just permitted but encouraged, so couples are not locked into a house list.
Location & Getting There
Secret Meadows sits outside Thomasville, close to Lexington, with Piedmont Triad International the nearest airport for guests flying in from out of state. The venue books year-round but runs a defined peak season across April, May, June, September, October, and November, with July and August treated as off-peak, which is worth knowing for couples weighing a summer date against the heavier calendar and pricing of the fall months.
Amplified music and microphone use are not allowed after 10:30 p.m., so the night’s build toward a last song has a fixed endpoint. We’ve DJ’d a wedding here, and the barn’s open truss ceiling and covered porches carry sound cleanly from the dance floor without the muddiness of a fully enclosed room, while the outdoor ceremony sites need only a portable system to reach guests seated on open grass.
