A veteran owned, family run operation built this working hay farm in Alamance County from the ground up, opening it in 2020. This is not a converted event space bolted onto an existing farm structure. Everything here, from the reception barn to the smaller barn set aside for the wedding party, was raised specifically to host weddings, which shows in how the buildings are laid out and how well they work together across a single event day.

The reception barn is the heart of the property, built with the height and open framing that let a hay barn work as a wedding barn: high ceilings, exposed wood, and enough floor to seat a full reception with a dance floor left open. A short walk away sits the bridal barn, a dedicated space for the wedding party to dress and wait out the morning away from setup and guest arrival.

Capacity & Layout

Painted Sky Farm is built for intimate to mid-size weddings rather than large-scale receptions, and that scale is part of what makes the reception barn feel right rather than half-empty. The barn holds a full seated reception with room left over for a dance floor, so a couple is not choosing between guest tables and a place to dance. That matters when a guest list runs on the smaller side and a big rented tent would only make the room feel emptier.

The hay fields around the barns are used for outdoor ceremonies, so the day typically moves guests from open field to barn interior rather than keeping everything under one roof. The bridal barn gives the wedding party a separate space to finish getting ready without crossing paths with vendors setting up the reception barn, which keeps the timeline calmer on a morning when a lot is happening across the property at once.
