The Space
Cindy and Eddie built this place backward from most wedding venues: they eloped first, then renovated the old tractor shed into a pavilion for their own party, and only after that turned toward the deteriorating cattle barn on the property. What had been a circa 1950s barn became the ceremony space, and what started as a one-time party spot became a full venue that opened in May 2017.
The property sits on 69 acres of rural upper Cleveland County, close to the foothills of the South Mountains, and the two converted buildings anchor everything else. Inside the barn, exposed structure and the original bones of a cattle barn are still visible under whatever a couple adds for decor. The Reception Pavilion, built from that old tractor shed, carries a rustic ceiling hung with bistro lighting and two chandeliers.
Capacity & Layout
The barn holds up to 100 guests for a ceremony inside, which keeps that part of the day contained and close, everyone able to hear vows without a microphone straining across open ground. The Reception Pavilion is the larger room, seating 130 to 150 for a meal or holding 150 standing for a more casual reception, so the two spaces are sized differently on purpose rather than being one room doing double duty.
Four ceremony sites are offered beyond the barn itself: the front lawn, the back lawn, and an open field behind the Reception Pavilion, each with its own backdrop and its own walk for the wedding party. A couple choosing between them is really choosing between framing, morning light on the front lawn reads differently than an evening ceremony in the open field, and that choice should get made well before the day.
Amenities
The Reception Pavilion has its own prep kitchen and restrooms built in, which matters more than it sounds like it should: caterers aren’t improvising in a corner and guests aren’t walking across a field to find a bathroom. We worked a wedding here and the practical layout showed, staff had a real space to stage from and the flow between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception felt planned rather than pieced together.
Outside, a newly built wedding swing, a large fire pit, and a secret dragonfly mural give guests places to wander during cocktail hour instead of standing in one room, and the southern-facing deck off the Pavilion looks out over the firepit toward the sunset, which is where a lot of the evening photos happen without anyone staging them. The venue has won Cleveland County’s Best of the Best Wedding Venue award every year since it opened.
Location & Getting There
This is rural upper Cleveland County, near the South Mountains foothills, and that setting is the point rather than a compromise, a couple books this property for the quiet and the land, not for proximity to a downtown. Guests coming from Charlotte or Shelby should plan for a drive that trades highway miles for country roads, and that drive is part of what makes the arrival feel like leaving town behind.
Parking is available on site and the grounds are wheelchair accessible, which keeps arrival simple once guests do make the drive. For sound, the barn’s hard, open interior with its exposed structure carries a ceremony voice cleanly, while the Reception Pavilion’s rustic ceiling and enclosed walls hold reception volume in rather than letting it scatter, so a system set for the Pavilion doesn’t need to fight the room the way an open lawn ceremony would.
