The Space

The Gracie Floyd Event Center opened at McFalls Landing in late 2009, on Broadway Lake, a 300-acre lake built in 1940 as one of President Franklin Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration projects. McFalls Landing is the largest of four public parks on the lake, and the Anderson Ski Bug Club once ran nationally sponsored water ski competitions here in the late 1950s. That WPA-era construction is part of why the lake still anchors so much of the surrounding community today, decades after the original public works project shaped it.

Inside, a high vaulted ceiling and a full wall of windows look out over Broadway Lake, so the room stays connected to the water even during a seated dinner. A paved outdoor patio extends that view further out, sitting right on the lake with landscaped grounds around it, giving couples both an indoor room and an open-air space to use across the day.

Capacity & Layout

The facility holds up to 275 guests, and rental includes 14 sixty-inch round tables, 3 six-foot rectangular tables and 100 chairs, which covers most of a wedding’s seating without a couple needing to source their own furniture. That included inventory is worth budgeting around, since it removes one of the bigger rental-line items most venues leave up to the couple.

The single event space totals about 2,500 square feet of meeting room, with the outdoor lawn area available separately for a ceremony. A kitchen on site works best for setup and food preparation rather than full cooking, so caterers should plan their prep accordingly, and ADA accessible facilities keep the space usable for guests who need them. Because the kitchen is built for setup and prep rather than full cooking, couples typically pair the room with a caterer already comfortable finishing food on site, which is worth raising early when interviewing catering teams.

Amenities

Two boat launch ramps sit on the property, a reminder that this is still an active public lake park alongside being an event venue, and ample parking, including handicap spots, keeps arrival simple. Outside catering is allowed, giving couples freedom to bring in their own caterer rather than choosing from a required list.

Security is required for any event serving alcohol, drawing more than 150 attendees, or running past 9pm, so couples planning a later reception or a larger guest list should factor that requirement into their budget early. The paved patio has no mention of permanent rain cover, so an outdoor reception should have a backup plan for weather.

Location & Getting There

Broadway Lake spans 300 acres with a maximum depth of 22.1 feet and roughly 5 miles of shoreline, and McFalls Landing sits directly on that water in Anderson County, managed by the Anderson County Parks Department. That waterfront setting puts every ceremony photo and much of the reception within sight of open water.

We have worked this room, and the lake-facing wall of windows shapes how sound behaves indoors: the vaulted ceiling gives a DJ real headroom for even coverage across a 275-guest room, while the hard glass surface along one wall means speaker placement matters more than it would in a fully enclosed banquet hall.
