The Space
Maywood Hall & Garden is Trophy Brewing Company’s newest venue, built specifically for events rather than repurposed from taproom space, and it sits on Maywood Avenue at the edge of downtown Raleigh, just a few doors down from Trophy’s own production facility and taproom. The Caraleigh neighborhood setting puts the venue close to the city without putting it in the middle of it. Trophy Brewing itself was founded in 2013 on West Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh, and Maywood Hall & Garden represents the company’s expansion into dedicated event space a few streets from its original taproom.
Inside, the 2,700 square foot hall runs bright and open, with dimmable string lighting and large windows that carry natural light through the room. Outside, a freshly landscaped 3,000 square foot garden with stone pathways connects to a 4,500 square foot lawn surrounded by natural foliage, so a couple can move a ceremony, cocktail hour and reception across three distinct settings without leaving the property.
Capacity & Layout
The indoor hall seats between 50 and 200 guests, which covers a wide range of guest lists without a couple needing to rent a larger room than they need. The outdoor lawn stretches further, holding up to 400 people seated or standing, so a bigger wedding can spread its ceremony and cocktail hour outside and still bring everyone in for a seated indoor reception.
The venue supplies 100 chairs, with guests free to rent additional seating from an outside provider if the count runs higher. Round and rectangular dining tables, wooden cross-back chairs and tall cocktail tables are included, along with a custom-built mobile bar stocked with Trophy Brewing’s own beverages, and a dedicated space is set aside for catering and event staff.
Amenities
A small suite off to the side works as a bridal suite, green room or lounge, giving the wedding party a private space near the action rather than a spot across the building. Linens and AV access come with the rental, which keeps two separate vendor bookings off a couple’s checklist.
The green space can hold a 50 by 75 foot tent, since the lawn is not a covered area and stays weather-dependent, so couples planning an outdoor ceremony or reception should plan for a tent as a real contingency rather than an afterthought. The garden’s stone pathways and landscaping stay usable rain or shine for photos and cocktail hour.
Location & Getting There
The venue sits about 16 miles from Raleigh-Durham Airport and just 1.5 miles from the Convention Center in downtown Raleigh, up the street from the State Farmers Market, so out-of-town guests land close to hotels and the venue both. Several hotels, including The Longleaf Hotel & Lounge, The Stateview and Hyatt House Seaboard, sit within about three miles.
We have worked this room, and the layout gives a DJ two real options: the indoor hall’s windows and open floor keep sound contained and even for a seated dinner, while the outdoor lawn and garden, open to the sky and bordered by foliage, call for a setup built around a tent or a covered stage if the reception moves outside.
