The Space

Inside SouthPark Mall, which opened February 12, 1970 and remains the largest shopping center in the Carolinas at 1.688 million square feet, this Italian-American restaurant has built its private event program on the same family-style cooking that put Maggiano’s on the map after it opened in Chicago in November 1991. Rich Melman’s Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises started the brand and named it after Marvin Magid, a business partner who died in a helicopter crash in 1987, and Brinker International bought the concept in 1995 to expand it nationwide.

The Charlotte location spreads its private rooms across two floors of the mall building, a layout that lets a couple choose a single small room for a rehearsal dinner or open several rooms together for a full reception. A dedicated Private Dining Event Manager is assigned to each event, so the same person who plans the room layout and menu is available on the wedding day itself.

Capacity & Layout

Five named rooms anchor the event space: Abruzzi seats 16 banquet style, Burgoni seats 24, and Corleone, Palermo, and Centioli each seat 60. That range means a couple can host anywhere from a small rehearsal dinner to a mid-size reception without renting a room too large for the guest list, and rooms can be combined when the count runs higher.

Across the combined spaces, the venue tops out at 180 guests banquet style or 120 classroom style, and the broader event program is built for groups of 10 to 250. A couple planning a reception near the upper end of that range should expect to fill most of the available rooms at once, which affects how much open floor is left for dancing versus dining.

Amenities

Catering is entirely in-house, built around family-style or buffet service of the same Italian-American menu the restaurant is known for, paired with a full-service bar stocked with wines, spirits, and champagnes. High-speed internet is available in the banquet rooms, along with presentation screens, microphones, and LCD projectors, more suited to a corporate meeting but usable for a slideshow or speeches at a reception.

The venue is ADA accessible, and parking is available at SouthPark Mall, a detail that matters given the size of the property and the volume of shoppers the mall draws on weekends. Business hours run 11am to 10pm Monday through Thursday, 11am to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 9pm Sunday, hours worth checking against a proposed reception end time. Our DJs have worked in these banquet rooms before, so the outlet locations and the load-in route from the mall entrance are already known rather than something to figure out on the wedding day itself.

The restaurant sits inside SouthPark, both a mall and one of North Carolina’s largest business districts, roughly 15 minutes from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. That mix of retail and office towers around the venue means weekday evening events share the area with commuter and shopping traffic, worth building into a timeline for vendor load-in.

Because the event rooms are built into an enclosed restaurant rather than a stand-alone hall, everything happens indoors with no outdoor contingency to plan for. That enclosed layout, hard-surfaced dining rooms opening into one another, keeps sound close in the room, so a DJ setting up in the combined Corleone, Palermo, and Centioli space for a full reception is working a contained footprint rather than an open hall.
