The Space

Lutheridge has operated as a Christian camp and conference center since 1951, a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America now run by NovusWay Ministries, spread across 160 acres near Asheville. More than 70 years of outdoor ministry programming means the property was built for groups first, with meeting halls, cabins, and gathering spaces designed to move a crowd through meals, worship, and recreation rather than a single afternoon event.

The Faith Center, completed in 2019, is the largest indoor space on the property at 5,400 square feet, with a main room measuring 75 feet by 64 feet. A movable partition system can split that room into two full-sized breakout spaces or leave it open as one expansive hall, which gives a couple real flexibility between an intimate ceremony and a full reception under the same roof.

Capacity & Layout

The Faith Center holds up to 350 guests, seated in one open configuration when the partitions are pulled back. That capacity, paired with the room’s climate control and handicap accessibility, makes it the property’s clear choice for a reception that needs to seat a large guest list indoors regardless of mountain weather outside.

Beyond the Faith Center, the property carries several other named spaces, Efird Hall with its rustic charm and two stone fireplaces, Lakeside Lodge, the Lineberger Dining and Meeting Hall, Mission Hall, Thornburg Hall, and Whisnant Chapel, each suited to a different piece of a wedding weekend, from a rehearsal dinner to a smaller ceremony. A couple planning a full weekend here can spread the rehearsal, ceremony, and reception across different rooms instead of compressing everything into one space.

Amenities

The Faith Center comes equipped with a stage, a house sound system, a piano, LCD projectors, and two large screens, all built into a climate-controlled room with public restrooms and handicap access already in place. Professional culinary staff handle meals on site, with vegetarian, vegan, and allergy accommodations available, and Fair Trade coffee served alongside standard catering.

Lodging on the 160 acres includes multiple cabin styles, Hill, Pioneer, Lakeside Village, and Wilderness cabins, plus hotel-style rooms in the Bacot Center and Kohnjoy Inn, so a wedding party can stay on property for the whole weekend. Outdoor recreation across the grounds, hiking trails, lake activities, canoeing, rock climbing, and a ropes course, gives guests something to do beyond the ceremony itself, which suits a couple planning more than a single afternoon.

Location & Getting There

Lutheridge sits between Asheville and Hendersonville, roughly two miles from Asheville Regional Airport, which makes it one of the more accessible mountain properties for out-of-town guests flying in. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and accepts retreat reservations from January through June and August through December, skipping July and part of the surrounding months when the property runs its own summer camp programming, so a wedding date has to work around that calendar.
