The Space
On the banks of Lake Wylie, Long Cove opened in 1971 as a marina and family campground, a role it held for more than 40 years before new owners took over in 2016 and rebuilt it into a glamping resort while keeping the marina running. Thirty-three lakefront tiny-house cabins now sit across the property, alongside the original working marina.
Event space is spread across several distinct outdoor spots rather than one ballroom: a private beach with a campfire area and Adirondack chairs, a 2,000-square-foot BBQ patio looking over the lake, the string-lit Luna Patio with rustic tables, and the Hilltop Terrace with a fireplace overlooking Lake Wylie. Each has a different feel, so a couple can pick a beach ceremony and a terrace reception, or keep the whole day in one spot.
Capacity & Layout
The resort can host up to 175 guests when you factor in on-site accommodations, and with 33 cabins sleeping anywhere from 2 to 7 guests depending on style, a meaningful share of your wedding party can actually stay overnight on the property instead of driving in for the ceremony and driving home after. One cabin option is a 100-year-old reclaimed structure, available as its own room rental for a couple wanting something with more history than the newer builds.
Because the grounds are laid out as a resort rather than a single event hall, your reception layout follows whichever patio or terrace you choose: the BBQ patio’s 2,000 square feet sets the working footprint for tables and a dance floor there, while the beach and Hilltop Terrace work better for smaller, more scattered gatherings built around the fireplace or the campfire ring.
Amenities
The marina itself has 114 boat slips with water and electricity, handling everything from jet skis to 62-foot houseboats, and rents out pontoon boats, jet skis, kayaks, and paddleboards, so a rehearsal-day or day-after activity is built into the property rather than something you have to arrange off site. Free Wi-Fi runs throughout the cabins and grounds.
Catering runs through a grocery and convenience store on site plus external catering options you bring in, and access to the grounds and gathering spaces is limited to Long Cove members and registered cabin guests, which is worth knowing if you are inviting anyone who is not staying overnight. The property sits about 13 miles from downtown Charlotte and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, on the North Carolina side of Lake Wylie, which straddles the North Carolina and South Carolina line. That distance keeps it close enough for Charlotte guests to reach easily while still feeling like a lake getaway once you are on site.
