The Space
Lambertville Station Inn began as a train station building in 1867, and the structure still carries that history even after being converted into a restaurant and inn. It was established in its current form in 1982 and has been a Lambertville landmark ever since, sitting directly on the banks of the Delaware River in the heart of town.
The Riverside Ballroom is the room built for events, with floor to ceiling windows that look straight out over the Delaware River on one side, and it operates as both a ceremony and a reception space. A wine cellar bar and a separate cocktail room round out the indoor options, and an outdoor patio gives a couple a second, open air setting on the same property.
Capacity & Layout
The Riverside Ballroom is rated for up to 150 guests, while the venue as a whole can entertain up to 200, so the ballroom itself is the practical ceiling for a seated dinner, and a couple planning past 150 should confirm with the venue how any overflow into the wine cellar bar or cocktail room is handled before they finalize a floor plan.
Ceremonies can be held in the Riverside Ballroom itself or on the outdoor patio along the river, and the reception typically stays in the ballroom to keep the water view in front of guests through dinner and into dancing. A bridal suite is available for the wedding party to get ready in before the ceremony starts, which is useful given the venue’s train station layout does not leave much other private space.
Amenities
Catering is handled in house, built around creative American cuisine, and the bar setup includes both a full bar and a separate wine cellar bar for cocktail hour, so guests can be split between two spaces without crowding one room. Free parking is available on site, which matters at a riverside property in a small town where street parking can be tight on a weekend.
The inn itself offers 46 guest rooms and suites, with river views from many rooms and fireplaces in some of the suites, so out of town guests, or the couple themselves, can stay on property the night of the wedding instead of driving home. We have worked a wedding in the Riverside Ballroom before and know how the room runs from cocktail hour through the last dance, and how the fireplace suites read for photos the next morning.
Location & Getting There
The venue sits on the Delaware River in Lambertville, New Jersey, about one hour from both New York City and Philadelphia, close enough that out of town guests have a reasonable drive either way. New Hope, Pennsylvania is near enough to reach on foot, just across the river, giving a rehearsal dinner or after party a second town to walk to. Trenton-Mercer Airport is roughly 9 miles away for guests flying in.
Because the Riverside Ballroom is essentially a glass wall of windows over a hard floor, sound has room to travel and reflect off that glass, so we set up facing away from the windows and dial in levels carefully to keep the dance floor full and clear without the river view working against the mix.
