The Space
Set on 65 acres outside Linwood, La’bri at Linwood occupied a working landscape of horse pastures, secluded forest, and a spring-fed pond bordered by Potts Creek. Guests moved between a renovated horse barn, a wedding gazebo, and an outdoor ceremony spot facing the pond and its fountain. The barn carried string bistro lights overhead and a small waterfall backed by a cedar fence, giving the reception space real texture without feeling staged or added on for show.
The venue closed in February 2023 when the family that ran it retired, with operations transferring to a new entity called Everlasting Acres. We worked a wedding here while it was open, so this description reflects the property as it stood: a converted mid-century home turned event property, with the barn as centerpiece and the pond and gazebo as the two ceremony options depending on weather and how formal a couple wanted the day to feel.
Capacity & Layout
With three usable spaces, the barn, the gazebo, and the pond ceremony site, and standing room reported up to 400, couples had real flexibility in how they split a day. A rainy forecast meant the ceremony simply shifted into the barn rather than getting cancelled, and the barn’s open floor accommodated both rows of chairs for vows and, later, round tables for dinner, without a full room flip in between.
Getting ready happened close by: the bridal suite sat in the main house and the Groom’s Cottage was a converted storage building repurposed just for that use, so neither side of the wedding party needed a hotel room nearby to be dressed and ready before the ceremony. Parking was kept off the grass in designated areas, which mattered on a rural property after rain, and the whole layout was reported as single level, with cart rides offered to guests who needed help covering the distance between spaces.
Amenities
The barn’s design leaned into its rustic bones rather than dressing them up: bistro lights strung overhead, a waterfall built into a cedar-fenced backdrop, and the original horse-stable structure left visible throughout. The main house doubled as more than a backdrop for photos, its covered and screened porches looking straight out over the pond, useful both for portraits and for guests who wanted a quiet spot away from the reception noise later in the evening.
A new roof went on the main house in 2021, and the property overall read as maintained rather than merely rustic, important for a barn venue where couples often worry about weather damage or upkeep. Beyond the barn itself, the grounds offered real variety: pastures and forest for photos, the pond for a ceremony backdrop, and a bridal suite and groom’s cottage that meant no scrambling for a place to change or touch up before the processional began.
Location & Getting There
La’bri at Linwood sat roughly 30 minutes from Winston-Salem and about 40 minutes from Charlotte, a reasonable pull for out-of-town guests without putting them deep into rural driving. Now that the venue has closed and its former operations moved to Everlasting Acres, a couple researching it today should confirm current status directly rather than assume it is still bookable under this name; this description reflects the property as it operated when we played there.
For a DJ, a rustic barn like this one meant working with a mix of hard barn flooring and open rafters, which carries sound differently than a hotel ballroom: music filled the space easily but needed careful leveling near the doors so it did not bleed out toward the pond ceremony area during an overlapping cocktail hour, and the barn’s open sightlines made it easy to run announcements and dancing from one setup without relocating gear between spaces.
