The Space

Ivy Rose Farms started as a backyard beekeeping hobby before it became a working floral and honey farm, and the wedding venue built on that land carries the same handmade feeling. The family bought the 70-acre property in 2018, and siblings Tony and Nicole run it today, Tony tending an apiary of 100 hives and Nicole growing specialty heirloom cut flowers that trace back to her research starting in 2019.

The Ivy Rose Barn itself, designed by a fine art wedding photographer, sits among that working farm rather than beside it, so ceremonies and receptions happen with flower fields, wooded areas, and mountain views as the actual backdrop rather than added landscaping. A greenhouse with white trim adds a second, more sheltered space, used for ceremonies, rain backup, cocktail hour, and rehearsal dinners on the property.

Capacity & Layout

The property offers two very different scales of room: the Rose Room seats up to 200 and the Open Air Pavilion, with its vaulted ceilings and grand staircase, holds up to 300. That range gives a couple real flexibility, a more intimate wedding can use the Rose Room’s white shiplap walls and fireplace, while a larger guest list has the Open Air Pavilion, with mountain views built into the room, to grow into.

With ceremony sites at the Pavilion, the greenhouse, or the outdoor lawn areas, and reception space split across the Pavilion, the Rose Room, and the barn, a wedding here can move through several distinct settings over the course of a day without leaving the farm. Rental runs 13 hours on a Saturday, from 10am to 11pm, giving a couple’s timeline real room to breathe between setup and a full evening reception.

Amenities

The bridal suite is built for the whole day before the ceremony, with dedicated hair and makeup stations, French-inspired furnishings, crystal chandeliers, a clawfoot tub, a double sink vanity, and a private balcony. The groom’s counterpart down the hall has its own full bar with a mini fridge, a seating area, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, so both sides of the wedding party get a real space to get ready.

Three bars cover the event spaces, with a mobile bar available for the pavilion, and an on-site venue manager is included with every booking. Engagement and bridal photoshoots on the property are part of the rental as well, which matters on a farm like this one, where the flower fields Nicole grows are as much a part of the photos as the barn. Parking includes attendants, and restrooms are handicap accessible.

Location & Getting There

The farm sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 10 minutes from downtown Rocky Mount, close enough for a quick supply run but far enough to feel like real mountain country, with a short drive out to Roanoke, Blacksburg, or Lynchburg for guests staying further afield. The Ivy Rose Barn was named one of the Best Wedding Venues for 2022 by Wedding Sparrow, recognition that lines up with what the property offers once you are on site.

We have worked the room here, and between the Rose Room’s finished interior and the Open Air Pavilion’s covered but open sides, a DJ setup has a choice of a fully enclosed room with predictable acoustics or a pavilion where the mountain air and vaulted ceiling open the sound outward, useful for a reception that wants dancing to carry across an open-air space rather than stay contained in four walls.
