The Space
The Founders Dairy Barn dates to 1947, built as a working farm structure decades before the Anne Springs Close family donated 2,100 acres of their land in 1995 to create the Greenway that now surrounds it. The barn’s upstairs ceremony loft still carries its original 1947 beams, a detail that ties the renovated event space directly back to its working-farm origins, so the room feels genuinely old rather than built to look that way.
The barn is organized into four distinct areas: the Milk Parlour for dining, the Assembly Space for cocktail hour, the Loft for ceremonies, and an outdoor patio for cocktails or extra seating. That separation lets a wedding day move through the barn in stages, ceremony upstairs, cocktails in the Assembly Space or on the patio, dinner in the Milk Parlour, rather than staying in one room all evening from vows through dessert.
Capacity & Layout
The Loft seats up to 300 in ceremonial or wedding-style seating, the largest of the barn’s four spaces, while the Milk Parlour seats a maximum of 150 for dining and the Assembly Space holds 50. The outdoor patio adds another 100 to 200 seats and can be tented, so a couple has real flexibility in how they divide a guest list across the property depending on the size of the wedding.
That range of room sizes, from the 50-person Assembly Space up to the 300-person Loft, means a couple can scale the day to their actual guest count rather than renting one oversized room for a smaller group. The whole barn is fully temperature controlled, which matters given how much of the day moves between the different rooms and the patio across a single evening.
Amenities
A customizable Greenway Bar Package covers beverage service, and Greenway Catering handles food, so both major vendor decisions are built into booking the venue itself. A bridal suite is available for the wedding party to get ready in, and the barn is handicap accessible with free, close parking, so logistics stay simple despite the size of the property around it, even for guests less familiar with the Greenway.
The barn sits within a 2,100-acre preserve, more than twice the size of Central Park, with lakes, hardwood forests, and 40 miles of trails available for photos beyond the barn itself. Free Wi-Fi is available on site, and the venue has won WeddingWire’s Couples’ Choice Award every year from 2018 through 2021, a run that speaks to how consistently couples have been happy with the day.
Location & Getting There
The Greenway sits in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just minutes from Charlotte, and carries history that predates the barn itself: the property includes the historic Nation Ford Road, part of the Great Philadelphia Wagon Road used for centuries by Native Americans and settlers, and has ties to the Catawba Nation and to the Revolutionary and Civil War periods, long before the barn was ever built.
We worked a wedding in the Loft, where the original 1947 beams and open ceiling give the room some natural resonance, different from the Milk Parlour downstairs, where a lower, more enclosed footprint holds sound closer to the dance floor. Moving a DJ setup between the two levels over the course of one event is the main thing to plan for here.
