The Space
A $17 million renovation finished in March 2020 touched the guest rooms, the meeting spaces and the nine-story atrium at the center of this all-suite hotel in Cary, redoing the finishes throughout without changing the building’s basic shape: a tall, open atrium core with guest floors wrapped around it and event space built off to one side. That kind of recent, complete renovation matters for a wedding because the carpets, fixtures and meeting-room finishes a couple sees on a walkthrough are current rather than years worn.
Twenty thousand square feet of meeting and event space is split across the Carolina Ballroom, the Triangle Ballroom and 15 additional meeting rooms, giving a wedding party room to spread a ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and even a next-day brunch across different rooms rather than resetting one space three times in a single day. That range of rooms also gives a planner room to hold a rehearsal dinner in a smaller space the night before without touching the ballroom being set for the wedding itself.
Capacity & Layout
The Carolina Ballroom is the big room: 12,800 square feet that seats 720 for a plated dinner or holds 1,800 for a standing reception, and it divides into eight separate sections, so a couple with a guest list on the smaller side isn’t paying to fill a room built for triple their headcount.
The Triangle Ballroom is the mid-size option at 3,888 square feet, seating 225 for a banquet and splitting into thirds behind floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural light for a daytime reception or a rehearsal dinner. Between the two ballrooms and the 15 breakout rooms, which range from 432 to 3,200 square feet, there is a size that fits almost any guest count without renting more room than the day needs.
Amenities
All 273 guest rooms are two-room suites averaging more than 500 square feet, each with a separate bedroom and living area, which gives the wedding party and visiting family actual space to get ready in rather than one hotel room with everyone underfoot. Room service and full catering are handled in house, so the same team booking the ballroom also covers the food.
Crystal Falls Lounge serves cocktails and light bites, and Bistro in the Park serves dinner inside the hotel’s open-air atrium, a distinctive setting for a rehearsal dinner. The property also has an indoor heated pool, a full fitness center, a 24-hour business center and parking for more than 550 cars, plus audiovisual equipment already built into the meeting spaces.
Location & Getting There
The hotel is in Cary, about four miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport and roughly seven miles from Research Triangle Park, close enough for guests flying in or driving up from the RTP area without a long haul on either end. Raleigh itself is about eight miles away if guests want to extend the weekend into the city.
We’ve handled the sound in this hotel before, and both ballrooms are self-contained rooms off the main atrium rather than open to it, which keeps a reception’s music inside the room instead of carrying into the lobby, and the Carolina Ballroom’s eight-way divisibility means a DJ setup can be sized to the section actually booked instead of one system trying to fill 12,800 square feet.
