The Space

Elevation Church’s Ballantyne campus is an 80,000-square-foot building on 22 acres, built as the church’s broadcast hub as much as its sanctuary. The main worship space seats 1,800 and is paired with two children’s theaters and dedicated childcare rooms, so the campus is sized less like a single sanctuary and more like a full production facility, with a two-story lobby of glass curtain walls serving as the building’s primary gathering space.

That production-facility scale comes from Elevation Church’s own growth: founded in 2006 under Pastor Steven Furtick, the church expanded into a multisite congregation, and the Ballantyne campus was built to support that reach with an integrated AVL broadcast suite for multimedia production and telepresence. For a wedding held in the sanctuary, that means the room already carries professional-grade audiovisual infrastructure most banquet halls simply do not have.

Capacity & Layout

The 1,800-seat sanctuary is large enough to hold a wedding of nearly any size without approaching its own limit, which shifts the planning question away from whether guests will fit and toward how a couple wants to use a room built for a much bigger crowd. The two-story glass-walled lobby works as a natural gathering point before and after the ceremony, giving guests somewhere to collect that is not the sanctuary itself.

Two children’s theaters and dedicated childcare rooms mean a wedding with young guests has a built-in place to send them during the ceremony or reception, rather than relying on parents to manage kids in the main room. The building is wheelchair accessible throughout, with both stairways and elevators connecting its levels, so guests with mobility needs are not limited to a single floor of the venue.

Amenities

An executive suite and a tractor-trailer loading dock sit on the property, the kind of infrastructure built for large productions rather than a typical wedding, but useful if a couple is bringing in substantial equipment or a large vendor team. A private parking enclosure is available for staff and guests, offering more controlled access than an open lot.

The AVL broadcast suite supports multimedia production and telepresence broadcasts as part of the church’s regular operations, and while that capability is built for Sunday services, its presence means the sanctuary’s sound and video systems are maintained to a professional production standard rather than a basic house system. Parking on site is available, though it can be tight on Sundays given the campus’s regular service schedule.

Location & Getting There

The Ballantyne campus sits on 22 acres in Charlotte, and because it hosts regular Sunday services at 9:30am and 11:30am, plus a Saturday service at 5:00pm, a wedding booked here needs to work around that schedule rather than assuming the building is free on any given weekend day. We have worked a wedding on this campus and coordinated our setup time with the church’s own schedule in advance.

Because the sanctuary is a large auditorium built for amplified worship music and a broadcast production team, it already has a sound system and acoustics designed for a full band and vocals to fill 1,800 seats, which means a DJ setup benefits from a room that was engineered for sound to carry evenly rather than fighting bare walls or an untreated ceiling.
