The Space
The Cumberland County Shrine Club operates under Sudan Shriners of Shriners International, and every event held here supports the Shriners Hospitals for Children through the club’s membership and fundraising work. The building itself is a straightforward fraternal hall just north of Fayetteville, split by a partition wall into two connected rooms: a Dining Room and a Ball Room. That wall can stay closed for a smaller private gathering or open to let both rooms function as one continuous space.
This is not a converted barn or a boutique venue dressed up for weddings. It reads as what it is: a Shriners hall with a working kitchen, a lounge, and a bar, built for its members’ meetings and events long before it hosted a wedding reception. We have DJ’d a wedding in this room before, and that plain, functional layout is part of what makes it easy to work in: nothing about the space competes for attention.
Capacity & Layout
Total seated capacity is 224 across the building, split as 120 on the Dining Room side of the partition and 104 on the Ball Room side. A couple planning a guest list close to that combined number should expect to use both rooms with the partition open, while a smaller wedding can stay contained to one side and leave the other room for a bar setup or a quieter overflow area.
The club provides its own furnishings: 15 round 60-inch tables, 8 round 48-inch tables, and 176 folding chairs. That is enough seating on hand for the large majority of a 224-guest event without a couple needing to rent tables and chairs separately, which is a real savings against a venue that requires outside rental furniture for a room this size.
Amenities
The kitchen is built for real catering volume: a commercial refrigerator, a commercial range with oven, and a 300-pound ice machine are all on premises. A caterer working a wedding here has the equipment to hold, cook, and keep food cold through a full reception rather than working out of coolers and chafing dishes brought in for the day. A Lounge with its own bar is also available, separate from the two main event rooms.
The building is handicap accessible, which matters in a hall of this age and keeps the day workable for older relatives or guests with mobility needs. Beyond the kitchen and bar, the club keeps its offering simple and functional rather than layering on resort-style extras, consistent with its identity as a member-run fraternal building that also happens to host private events like wedding receptions.
Location & Getting There
The Shrine Club sits just north of Fayetteville, an easy find for local guests and a straightforward drive in for anyone traveling from elsewhere in Cumberland County. Sudan Shriners has held its charter since 1917, and local units like the Oriental Band, formed in 1947, and the Motor Escort motorcycle unit, organized in 1973, give the building a long-standing local identity that predates any wedding held inside it.
Because the space is a single-story hall split by a partition wall rather than a room with high ceilings or elaborate architectural finishes, sound stays contained and predictable: a DJ setting up on the Ball Room side, or across the combined room with the partition open, is working with hard walls and a modest ceiling height that make level-setting straightforward rather than fighting an echo.
