The Space
Cross + Main occupies a building on Main Street in downtown Youngsville that started life in the early 1900s as The Boondocks, sat vacant until local investors bought it in 2013, and was fully restored the following year. Rocky Top Hospitality, a Raleigh-based company with deep experience in the event and catering industry, purchased the building in October 2016 and renamed it Cross + Main, keeping the original wood floors and exposed brick rather than covering them over.
The restoration incorporated reclaimed floors and support beams from the early 1900s directly into the current structure, so the age of the building is not a design choice layered on top, it is the actual material the room is built from. Two named rooms make up the venue: the Riddick Room, the larger of the two at 3,000 square feet, and the smaller Winslow Room attached to it, both carrying the same restored wood and brick throughout.
Capacity & Layout
The Riddick Room holds up to 200 guests seated or 225 standing, and its 3,000 square feet of open floor, restored wood, and exposed brick make it the main room for a ceremony, reception, or both, run as one open-concept event rather than moving guests between separate buildings. That capacity puts it comfortably in range for a mid-size to large wedding without needing an overflow tent.
The Winslow Room seats up to 110 or holds 150 standing, attached directly to the Riddick Room, which makes it a real second space rather than a hallway or a lobby. A couple can use it for a cocktail hour, a rehearsal dinner, or as a second ceremony option, and because the two rooms connect, moving a smaller group between them does not mean stepping outside or crossing a parking lot.
Amenities
In-house furnishings cover tables, chairs, and cocktail tables, along with a vintage blush settee and a bar built into the space, plus a wagon cart, small details that save a couple from renting decor pieces separately. A bridal or private suite is available on site for getting ready, and free on-site parking means guests are not searching for street spots in downtown Youngsville.
Rocky Top Catering is the exclusive on-site caterer, which comes with on-site event coordination as part of the package, so a couple is working with one team that knows the building rather than coordinating between a venue and an outside caterer who has never worked the room before. That single point of contact, backed by Rocky Top Hospitality’s experience in the industry, covers both the food and much of the day-of logistics.
Location & Getting There
Cross + Main sits on Main Street in the heart of downtown Youngsville, about 35 minutes from downtown Raleigh, close enough to draw a Raleigh-based guest list without asking anyone to commit to a long drive. The downtown setting means restaurants and a walkable street are right outside the door for a rehearsal dinner or an after-party without needing a second venue.
We worked a wedding at Cross + Main, and the open-concept layout between the Riddick and Winslow Rooms, both lined with hard wood floors and exposed brick, means sound carries clearly between the two spaces, so a DJ set up in the Riddick Room reaches into the Winslow Room without a second system, which keeps the whole building feeling like one connected party rather than two separate rooms.
