The Space

Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May was founded in 1913 by former members of Cape May Yacht Club, and the clubhouse was dedicated on the very same day as the entire Cape May harbor, tying the building’s history directly to the harbor it still sits on. When World War I began the following year, the Navy requisitioned the clubhouse as part of the war effort, an early interruption in a history that has had more than one.

The club effectively disappeared in the early 1940s and stayed dormant until 1959, when the Harbor Sailing Club, a group that had been organizing community sailing since 1948, adopted the historic Corinthian name and charter and revived it. That makes the current club both one of the oldest yacht clubs in New Jersey by name and a genuinely re-founded community institution, and it is the only venue in Cape May with both beach and waterfront access.

Capacity & Layout

Seated capacity ranges from 20 to 250 guests, a wide enough range to cover an intimate ceremony or a large reception without a couple needing to look elsewhere as their guest list grows. The clubhouse holds a large ballroom, a bar overlooking the harbor, and a canopied, fully screened porch that seats up to 180, so there are several distinct indoor and semi-indoor rooms rather than one single hall.

Outdoors, the Waterfront Wedding Pavilion and a rooftop space called the Commodores’ Quarters give a couple two more settings directly on the water, and a firepit and brick patio add a further outdoor option for cocktail hour or a quieter stretch of the evening. Ceremonies typically take place outside by the water under a white arch, keeping the harbor visible through that part of the day.

Amenities

Catering and bar service are handled on site, with bartenders included and a customizable menu, so a couple is not sourcing separate outside vendors for food and drink. A dressing room or bridal suite is available for wedding-party prep, and the venue is wheelchair accessible, worth knowing given the property’s waterfront setting and multiple outdoor spaces.

For the Waterfront Wedding Pavilion specifically, a clear-top tent with cafe lighting is available, which lets a couple use that outdoor space with weather protection and evening lighting built in rather than an unadorned open structure. Wifi is available throughout, and an on-site wedding event manager is provided to help run the day, which matters at a property with this many distinct spaces to coordinate.

Location & Getting There

The club sits directly on Cape May Harbor, and standard private event use runs five hours, from 5pm to 10pm, worth building a day-of timeline around. Being the only venue in Cape May with both beach and waterfront access is a real distinction here, not a marketing phrase, since most other venues in town offer one or the other.

On-site parking is available, useful in a beach town where street parking during wedding season can be difficult to find. For sound, the property gives a DJ real range to work with: the enclosed ballroom for a controlled indoor reception, the screened porch as a covered but open-air option, and the waterfront pavilion and rooftop Commodores’ Quarters for fully outdoor sound across the harbor.
