The Space
Six hundred acres of Blue Ridge Mountain land, fifteen miles east of Asheville, make up Christmount Christian Assembly, a retreat center founded in 1951 and still operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Nearly seventy-five years of hosting conferences, family reunions, camps, and events sit behind the property, and the scale of the land itself, ten times larger than most Carolina wedding venues, shapes almost everything about how a day here unfolds.
Aldridge Hall is the venue’s primary indoor gathering space, large enough to hold a ceremony, a seated dinner, and a dance floor without needing a second room for any of the three. Beyond the hall, the property carries pavilion areas and a ballfield with a firepit, giving a couple the option to move parts of the day, a rehearsal dinner or a late-night send-off, outdoors onto open lawn.
Capacity & Layout
Aldridge Hall holds up to 400 people, a figure that puts it comfortably in range for a full wedding with an extended guest list, and it is large enough that a DJ setup, a buffet or plated dinner line, and a dance floor can share the room without feeling cramped. For smaller weddings the same hall scales down without losing its character, since the space was built for conferences of varying size rather than a single fixed layout.
Beyond the hall, the property’s conference rooms give a couple additional space for a rehearsal, a smaller welcome gathering, or vendor staging without competing with the main event footprint. With hiking trails, a pool, basketball and pickle ball courts, and a playground on site, Christmount also functions as a weekend destination, which matters for couples planning a multi-day gathering rather than a single afternoon.
Amenities
Christmount’s lodging list is unusually long for a wedding venue: hotel-style rooms, group lodges, modern cabins, RV spaces, and rustic cabins are all available on the same property, which means out-of-town guests can stay within walking distance of the ceremony rather than driving in from Asheville. That range also gives a wedding party room to house everyone from grandparents who want a hotel-style room to a bridal party happy to share a cabin.
The camp side of the property runs alongside the event side rather than replacing it: Christmount also hosts Camp Lakey Gap for autistic campers and Sunshine Retreats for adults with intellectual disabilities, which gives a sense of an operation built around hospitality for a wide range of guests, not just weekend weddings. We have worked a wedding on these grounds before, so we know the pavilion and hall spaces firsthand rather than from a brochure.
Location & Getting There
Christmount sits fifteen miles east of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Black Mountain, close enough to the city for guests flying in but far enough out that the drive itself becomes part of the scenery. For a wedding, that distance is worth planning around: guests should expect mountain roads rather than interstate exits for the final stretch.
Aldridge Hall is the room a DJ will actually work, and its scale, built to seat up to 400, points to an open floor plan that gives a sound system room to fill without needing to fight close quarters. That kind of open room calls for a system set up to project evenly across a wide, indoor space, and it is the layout our crew has already worked once on these grounds.
