The Space
Chabad of Myrtle Beach traces back to 1987, when Rabbi Doron and Leah Aizenman founded the organization with a mission centered on Jewish education, and the community has grown from that start into a full synagogue and event space. After 35 years at a previous location, the congregation moved into the building at 29th Avenue North, formerly home to the Myrtle Beach School of Performing Arts, and renovated it to include a new ballroom and kitchen alongside the synagogue itself.
The property today includes the school, the synagogue, and a former florist building that is being renovated as part of the ongoing development, giving the campus a working, growing feel rather than one finished building. Rabbi Doron and Morah Leah Aizenman, together with Rabbi Yossi and Morah Chani Naparstek, co-direct the organization, and about 300 people currently worship at the synagogue, with the community expecting that number to grow toward 400 as development continues.
Capacity & Layout
The new ballroom seats 120 guests comfortably, a number that fits a mid-size wedding reception without leaving the room feeling empty, and it includes indoor-outdoor lounges attached to it for guests to move between covered indoor space and the open air outside. A private dining room, one in total, gives the wedding party or a smaller group its own separate space apart from the main ballroom.
Because the building was originally built for the Myrtle Beach School of Performing Arts before its conversion, the ballroom sits inside a structure already designed around a stage and an audience, a different starting point than most reception halls built from scratch as banquet space. The indoor-outdoor lounges give a reception the option to spread guests across more than one room, useful for cocktail hour separate from the main ballroom seating.
Amenities
A new on-site kitchen prepares meals with a professional chef, meaning catering is handled inside the building itself rather than requiring an outside caterer to bring everything in. Ample parking is available on-site as well, straightforward for guests arriving by car rather than needing to find street parking nearby.
The private dining room offers a separate, closed-off space for a smaller gathering, a rehearsal dinner, or a quiet retreat away from the main ballroom during a larger event, and the indoor-outdoor lounges extend that flexibility further by letting guests step outside without leaving the reception behind. Between the ballroom, lounges, and dining room, the building offers more than one distinct space to divide a wedding day across.
Location & Getting There
Chabad of Myrtle Beach sits on 29th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, in a building that spent decades as the Myrtle Beach School of Performing Arts before its current use, so the address carries its own local history even before the synagogue’s renovation. Ample on-site parking makes arrival simple for a guest list driving in from around the Myrtle Beach area.
With the ballroom seating 120 and connected indoor-outdoor lounges nearby, a DJ working a reception here has to account for sound moving between an enclosed ballroom, likely retaining some of the acoustic properties of its former life as a performance space, and the more open lounge areas next to it, where the same setup will read very differently depending on which side of that indoor-outdoor line the guests are standing on.
