The Space
Cellar Beast Winehouse sits on a 5-acre family-owned estate at the southern edge of Schuylkill County, at the northern foot of Blue Mountain near Jim Thorpe, established in 2021 by a woman and veteran-owned partnership of winemakers and entrepreneurs. The property runs a biodynamic vineyard alongside the tasting operation, with sustainable practices including cover cropping and hand-harvesting, so the setting is a working vineyard first and an event space built around it, not the reverse.
The winery sources premium grapes from West Coast vineyards in Washington, Oregon, and California, and makes them using French-inspired, minimal-intervention methods with traditional French yeast strains and small-scale production. Head winemaker and co-founder Matt Check, who created the wine Dark Angel, oversees that process on-site. Guests can take guided tastings in the barrel room or a behind-the-scenes tour of the production facility itself, so a private event here can include the working parts of the winery, not just a rented room.
Capacity & Layout
Cellar Beast does not publish a fixed guest capacity for private events, and the space is described as available for private tastings, pairing dinners, and special occasions rather than built around a specific headcount, so this reads better as an intimate gathering space than a large wedding reception hall. The layout spans the tasting room and barrel room indoors, the production facility for tours, and an outdoor patio, giving a couple more than one setting to move a small group through over the course of an evening.
The outdoor patio is covered and overlooks both the vineyard and the Blue Mountains, which gives an event here a real backdrop rather than a rented tent in a field, and it connects directly to the indoor tasting room and barrel room for weather flexibility. Because the winery is normally open Friday through Sunday, with Saturday and Sunday afternoons carrying live music and food trucks, a private event outside those hours or those days would likely need to be arranged around the regular tasting room schedule.
Amenities
The tasting room pours wine by the glass, bottle, or flight, alongside house-made ciders and local craft beer, so a bar built around the winery’s own product is already part of what a couple is renting into. On weekends, food trucks handle catering, and guests are welcome to bring their own picnic, which keeps food simple rather than routing everything through a single in-house caterer.
Dogs are welcome on leash in the outdoor areas, including the covered patio, useful for a couple who wants a pet in the wedding party or simply wants guests to bring theirs along. The dress code is casual and the winery welcomes families, and with a Wine Club of over 200 members receiving quarterly bottles, the venue already has a built-in community that gives the room a lived-in, regular-crowd feel rather than a rented-out blank space.
Location & Getting There
Cellar Beast sits near Jim Thorpe, about 45 minutes from Allentown, with Lehigh Valley International Airport the nearest airport for any out-of-town guests flying in. The winery also runs tasting rooms in Jim Thorpe and Easton, so guests who want to extend the visit into a weekend have other stops from the same brand nearby.
On-site parking means guests are not routed to a satellite lot, and the property’s setting at the foot of Blue Mountain gives the drive in its own scenery before anyone arrives. Between the covered outdoor patio and the indoor tasting room and barrel room, a DJ setup has to account for both an open-air space with mountain views and a smaller indoor room with barrels and hard surfaces, so sound needs to be planned separately for whichever space the event actually uses.
