The Space

Cedar Rock Country Club opened in 1965, a championship golf course designed by renowned architect Ellis Maples on land that overlooks Hibriten Mountain. The 7,153-yard par-72 course features Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens, the kind of specifications that defined high-end golf design in the mid-century. The clubhouse, built the same year, anchors the property with multiple dining and meeting rooms that flow naturally from golf club functions into event operations.

A group of local businessmen envisioned the club and the residential village that grew around it, choosing Hibriten Mountain as the visual centerpiece. The result is a landscape that feels intentional and settled, a place where sports and celebration have been the purpose for nearly 60 years. The clubhouse features a Lounge, Main Dining Room, Fireplace Room, and Grill room, each with distinct atmosphere and capacity. Men’s and women’s locker rooms provide changing facilities for golf members and can serve event logistics.

Capacity & Layout

The venue accommodates 300 or more guests across multiple indoor and outdoor spaces. Couples can stage ceremony in one room and reception in another, or hold the entire event within the clubhouse with choices of where to gather, dine, and dance. The multiple dining rooms and lounges create natural separation of activities while maintaining connection, cocktails in one space, dinner in another, dancing in a third, with easy flow between areas.

Outdoor spaces include the championship golf course itself (providing dramatic backdrops for photographs), an Olympic-size swimming pool with racing lanes and a diving board (available Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day), and four lighted artificial grass tennis courts. The pool area can host cocktails or lawn games, and the course fairways provide open-air photograph opportunities with Hibriten Mountain in the distance.

Amenities

Full catering is provided on site, handled by a culinary graduate trained at the Culinary Institute of America who oversees the kitchen operation. This level of culinary expertise means menus go beyond standard event fare, couples can work with the chef to develop menus that reflect their vision. Bar service is available with full liquor, beer, and wine selections managed by the clubhouse team.

The Grill room serves breakfast on weekends and lunch and dinner six days a week under normal operations; it can be reserved exclusively for events. Upscale dining is available year-round in the Lounge, Main Dining Room, and Fireplace Room, each providing a different setting for the rehearsal dinner, reception, or day-after brunch.

The golf course provides a stunning visual backdrop for photographs, and the pool and tennis courts offer additional photo opportunities and activities for guests. The clubhouse facilities are first-rate, with men’s and women’s locker rooms, pro shop, and full amenities.

Lenoir is in Caldwell County, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, roughly 90 minutes northwest of Charlotte and about two hours from Raleigh. Hibriten Mountain rises behind the club, providing a dramatic backdrop and a sense of place distinct from flat Piedmont courses. The setting feels both polished and grounded in the landscape, with mountain views and outdoor recreation as part of the daily culture. The area is rural enough to feel removed from urban development while remaining accessible by highway.

The clubhouse dining rooms have adequate ceiling height and support for sound reinforcement; speakers can be mounted on existing structure or placed discreetly in corners to avoid visual obstruction. The hard surfaces of the indoor dining rooms project sound clearly without excessive echo, making audio setup straightforward. Outdoor lawn events will require portable sound reinforcement to reach guests at distance from speakers.
