Brandywine Manor House is a circa 1740 manor built by Samuel Mackelduff on land originally settled by his parents James and Jane Mackelduff in 1722 as part of the Scots-Irish migration into southern Pennsylvania. The manor sits on 105 acres in Chester County, and the property has been carefully stewarded and expanded over the past few decades to create a destination wedding venue. The historic manor house provides the centerpiece, but the property now includes a restored barn complex and outdoor ceremony sites, allowing for multi-space celebrations. The surrounding grounds feature trees and open lawn suitable for photography and guest movement. The 1985 purchase by Dr. Gordon and Nancy Eck marked the beginning of a multi-year restoration and expansion that culminated in hosting the first wedding in 2003.

Capacity & Layout

The venue accommodates up to 300 seated or 400 standing guests across multiple spaces. The Manor Barn comprises three interior sections, the Gathering Room, Barn Loft, and Open Hearth Patio, with sit-down seating for up to 175 guests. Four outdoor ceremony sites, the Oak Grove, Lakeview, Garden Terrace, and the Glen, offer flexibility depending on weather and preference. The Brandywine Tent provides additional reception space for larger groups. Guest rooms are available on-site, with four bedrooms, making overnight stays possible for key family members or out-of-town guests. Bridal and groom’s rooms with mirrors, counter space, and refrigerators are provided.

The layout naturally guides guests through different areas: ceremony in one garden, cocktails in another, dinner in the barn, and dancing under the tent or in the outdoor spaces. The 105 acres mean no part of the celebration feels cramped.
