The Space
This building used to be Lago Restaurant before a major renovation turned it into B2 Bistro plus Bar. The overhaul brought in a brand-new bar, glass garage doors that open onto an expansive patio, an open kitchen built around a wood-fired pizza oven, and a new private event space built specifically for functions like weddings rather than adapted from regular dining room seating, so the room a couple books was designed for exactly that purpose.
The restaurant sits on the shore of Lake Farrington in Middlesex County, combining full-service dining with a dedicated banquet facility. Being on the water gives the property a setting most strip-mall banquet halls do not have, and the restaurant runs as a working kitchen every night, not just a rental space that gets catered in for events.
Capacity & Layout
The private banquet space holds up to 150 people, though that number drops to 120 once a dance floor is set up in the room. That is worth planning around directly: a couple who wants dancing as part of the night should treat 120 as the real ceiling rather than the full 150, since the dance floor itself takes up working floor space.
The glass garage doors open the banquet room straight onto the patio, so the space is not sealed off from the outdoors the way a typical function room is. That gives a couple the option of running cocktail hour outside on the patio with lake views, then rolling the doors back for the reception, using both spaces as one continuous flow rather than two disconnected rooms.
Amenities
The kitchen is run by an Executive Chef building menus around a garden-to-table concept with locally-sourced ingredients, and it is an open kitchen anchored by a wood-fired pizza oven. That means the food at a wedding here comes from the same kitchen and the same standards the restaurant runs on every regular night, not a separate banquet menu.
The bar carries an eclectic wine list, a continuously rotating selection of draft beers, and cocktails built around barrel-aged spirits and fresh seasonal fruit. For a couple who cares about the bar program as much as the food, that is a real point in the venue’s favor over a house that just pours well liquor and calls it a bar.
Location & Getting There
The restaurant sits in North Brunswick Township in Middlesex County, a central location for guests coming from around the greater New Brunswick area, and it is a room where we have already run an event. The lakefront setting is unusual for a restaurant venue in this part of New Jersey, and it gives photos a backdrop most banquet halls in the area cannot offer.
Sound in the banquet room has to account for the open kitchen and the glass garage doors leading to the patio, both of which change how the room holds noise compared to a fully enclosed banquet hall. When the doors are open to the patio, we treat the event as a mixed indoor-outdoor setup and keep the system tight enough that it carries across both spaces without losing clarity in the open air.
