Named for a clear spring fed lake, the borough of Spring Lake, NJ was developed into a coastal resort for members of New York City and Philadelphia high society, during the ‘Gilded Age’ of the late 19th and early 20th century, and served in a similar fashion to the coastal settlement of Newport, Rhode Island.
The borough and its surrounding areas are known as the “Irish Riviera”, because of the large Irish-American population in the area. In fact, Spring Lake has the highest percentage of Irish-American residents of any municipality in the United States.
Also, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1901, workers laid the cornerstone of the Spring River St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church. The church is a mini-cathedral, and was built in the renaissance architecture style to resemble St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City with frescoes and carvings that depict life in Ireland, past to present.

The Breakers, On The Ocean
A truly wonderful venue to host a wedding, The Breakers, On The Ocean, is able to accommodate from 50 to 225 guests with multiple event spaces to choose from! The Breakers also has the honorable distinction of being the only full service hotel located right on the ocean in Spring Lake. The hotel itself was actually built in the late 1800’s and was originally called the Wilburton-by-the-Sea, it was renamed in 1905 and it now has the honor of being the only remaining grand 19th Century hotel in Spring Lake, as such, The Breakers, On The Ocean has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Spring Lake, NJ community.
The Mill – Lakeside Manor

Spring Lake Bath & Tennis Club
In our experience, the Spring Lake Bath & Tennis Club always hosts wonderful events, and they do it in style! The club is located near the beautiful Spring Lake beach and boardwalk, is one of the most unique venues of its kind, boasting spectacular facilities including; a gorgeous Club House with Ballroom along with other dining and banquet rooms, ten world-class Har-Tru tennis courts, an Olympic-size salt water pool and private access to the beach and ocean.
For your ceremony you might like to exchange vows under their covered East Deck, featuring amazing ocean views, and the rolling surf of the Atlantic ocean.
